Surgery number two, this time they’re removing a 9 inch metal plate, stabilizing my arm, wrist and hand with a whole bunch of screws, bolted into my arm, stabilizing my mini broken pieces. It’s really all about waiting for a sense of normalness…

Yesterday was way too interesting! Although I was shooting for some news interviews, I did manage to take a few photographs while I was at it. Volcano Village covered in volcanic tephra isn’t the kind of image I can sell in a gallery, but the details and the atmosphere from yesterday was truly amazing. With so much of it raining down from the sky, it’s worth noting that these are not gravel roads, and that all the volcanic debris covered the roads evenly within an hour. I’m thankful that everyone was able to stay safe while sharing a once in a lifetime experience but I don’t think any of us will forget!

Locations are at the Volcano Art Center at their Niaulani campus, and Bird Park in the national park. The national Park celebration of life appreciates a potluck piece.

My father Tim Tunison passed away a few days ago at our family home in Volcano Village.

Since 1983 my dad has contributed widely to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and our Volcano community. We sincerely appreciate all of you, in Hawai’i and beyond, who have reached out to support our family.

While we don’t have services planned, we are considering several options for celebrating his life in the months ahead.

Last night Hawaiian goddess of fire, Pele, gave off a hell of a good show with her fountains several hundred feet high!

Been spending a lot of time going in and out of San Francisco lately. This photo is in a panoramic format (squared for insta) and was taken from Bay Bridge at 60mph. But medium format digital at high shutter speeds allowed for tack sharp focus in every area of the image.
