Bridal portraits have a reputation problem — stiff poses, a smile that isn’t quite hers, ten minutes stolen from the day to perform for a camera.
But every bride walks into her wedding day with her own voice. Her own aesthetic. Her own way of standing in a room. Bridal portraits should sound like that voice, not smooth it over.
My job isn’t to hand a bride a list of poses and ask her to become someone else for twenty minutes. It’s to listen for what’s already true about her and build the portraits around that — so what ends up on camera is recognizable, not rehearsed.
Because the moment a bride feels like she’s performing, the photos start to look like it too. The moment she feels like she has a partner instead of a director, everything changes.
Not through pressure. Through trust.

Deeply loving. Deeply fun.

This couple and this family feel everything out loud. The love. The joy. All of it.

Nothing about this day was halfway. Not the tears. Not the dancing.

I actually designed a coffee table book for this client. They were incredible to work with. And the Bride sent me a video of the album today when they received it with some kind words. And as she flipped through the album in her video, showing me the different pages that had been designed to tell the story of their day, it literally brought me to tears just remembering all the beautiful moments.

This is what a wedding day should feel like love. Joy. Laughter. Unscripted moments. Celebrating with all the people that you love in the same room at the same time.

It’s magic.

So… remember when Addie thought she was just going to dinner? 😂

I’m still obsessed with this surprise.
Peyton flew in. Two families flew in. Friends flew in. Flowers were arranged. Tiki torches were attempted to be lit. Damn those beautiful ocean breezes. Secrets were kept.

And Addie knew NOTHING.

This is exactly why I love what I do.
I love helping create these moments with my couples, then making sure the connection between you is palpable in your photographs.

And if you’re thinking, “We’re awkward in front of a camera,” you’re in good company. 😂
You don’t have to know what to do.
I’ll quietly prompt you into something that feels natural, give you just enough direction to get you comfortable, and then let things unfold.

That’s when the good stuff happens.
