Renting a vintage car is always worth the photo opp 😆

I love working with cars. Before going full time, I actually used to do insurance exclusively for classic cars and went to car shows all the time. I always have ideas on how to incorporate cars into your wedding day

How to make the perfect wedding timeline (and it's simpler than you think)

The trick to timelines is adding in buffer time. Packing everything down to the minute will result in a day of constantly asking "what's next" or "what time is it".

Instead of focusing on time & where to be next you want your focus to be on moments. You want time to sit next to your grandma for a quick hug and chat after dinner without worrying about moving quickly onto the next thing.

You want to experience your day and be fully present. Not rushing around trying to squeeze it all in. Timelines are something I assist all couples with and I build them intentionally.

I spent this past weekend up in Traverse City. Taking in all the hydrangeas, walks along the beach, & even taking a dip in the lake. I stopped by a roadside stand on my way home and bought the best cherries & tomatoes to snack on this week.

But the standout moments to me were all throughout Eric & Kiah's wedding day. Their families and friends were all smiles the entire day. Laughing and enjoying time together, dancing, & playing games in the summer evening. Playing chess and Uno and co****le.

It was a wonderful day spent with an amazing couple & their people. I can't wait to continue working on their gallery 💚

I took this a couple years ago but came across it again recently when going through my archives. Every so often I like to go back & see where I started vs where I am now.

My style has evolved a little from where I first started. While I'm still in that light & bright style, I'm not afraid to be a little moody when the situation calls for it. I edit more around the vibe of the day rather than forcing it to fit a bright style because some days just aren't light & bright. Some are meant to be more moody and dramatic, and I want to keep that tone.

One thing that's important regardless of the tone of your day though are the colors. Preserving the colors of your day as it happened is what makes your images timeless 🤍

Some slides of this early spring wedding in Novi 🤍

As the second photographer for this day I had the ability to zip around and capture additional angles to give a deeper look into their day.

I always love candids on a wedding day, and this family was so expressive and excited throughout the entire day. These are only the first moments of the day as I can't possibly squeeze an entire wedding into 10 slides!

A small look into a wedding day with a mix of posed & candid moments. A wedding day is made up of so many moments, and when you think of your day & see inspiration online you probably wonder what moments are real interactions vs posed moments.

I move through weddings days documenting those natural moments and stepping in to pose/prompt when needed. Swipe to see these moments and let me know what your favorite is!

A series of posed couples portraits throughout downtown Grand Rapids.

Instructing when to walk or twirl or kiss, I captured these with the intention to create the portraits that will live on walls and in albums.

My favorite moment of this set is probably the bottom middle. A random gentleman stopped while the bridesmaids were taking their portraits in front of the Amway Grand. He stopped to congratulate the groom and show him his ring while telling him how long he's been married to his wife. It was a spontaneous, but sweet moment in the middle of working with such a large group 🤍

The looks, the kisses, the first look were all prompted for these, taken around the same time as the previous posed set.

Reactions in first looks are totally natural, but we do stage these moments pretty heavily in the beginning in terms of "stand here, walk here, pause, ok turn around". And then from there it's whatever happens happens! We moreso stage it so you don't see each other before you're ready!

Post-ceremony moments. A spontaneous picture of her holding her dress as she walks (I'm absolutely giddy that I caught it). Reading private vows during a moment alone to each other during cocktail hour. Interactions with guests after dinner.

All candid moments throughout the reception part of the evening.

I build timelines with intention. I don't plan everything down to the minute because you can't plan for moments like these.

Giving ourselves time to enjoy the moments instead of rushing from one to the next will give you time to talk & interact with your guests and make room for what matters: you experience your day joyfully

A wonderful blog post about this styled shoot featuring my images 🥰

This shoot wouldn't have been possible without the amazing vendors!

The hosts of this shoot dreamed up an editorial that had both the decadence of a black-tie soiree and the colorful beauty and effortless elegance of a coastal celebration. Although the planning process included a few unexpected hurdles, the incredible collaboration of local vendors ensured the shoot...
