To my 2026 graduates,
You’re walking out of a chapter that probably felt endless at times. Early mornings, late nights, pressure, expectations, friendships changing, plans shifting. Some of you know exactly where you’re headed. Some of you are pretending you do. That’s normal too.
As a photographer, I get to see this strange little moment up close. The confidence mixed with nerves. The excitement sitting right beside uncertainty. And honestly, that’s what makes this season beautiful. You don’t have to have your whole life figured out at 18.
Years from now, these photos will matter for reasons you can’t fully see yet. Not because everything was perfect, but because this was the moment before life opened wide. Before the careers, the families, the heartbreak, the growth, the becoming.
So celebrate yourself a little.
Take the photo.
Laugh too loud with your friends.
Let your parents cry.
Be proud of how far you’ve come.
And when life doesn’t unfold exactly the way you planned, don’t mistake detours for failure. Some of the best stories start there.
You’re allowed to grow slowly.
You’re allowed to change your mind.
You’re allowed to become someone completely different than who you thought you’d be.
Congratulations, Class of 2026.
The world is waiting for you.
