🌳 Hondo City Park #3 {Dinosaur Park} has always been more than just a playground!! 🦕

It's where I walk and jog with my family. It's where we wave to neighbors doing the same. We've watched families enjoying a game of pickleball, kids shooting hoops, kids riding their bicycles, scooters, and skates, and parents pushing strollers or walking their dogs while little ones laugh and play. It's one of those places that brings our community together.

For more than 20 years, this playground has been part of countless childhood memories. But as I recently walked through the park with my camera, I couldn't help but notice just how much the playground has aged. The faded paint, rust in some areas, and worn equipment made me start asking myself...

What if we dreamed a little bigger for Hondo?
Imagine a park that serves everyone.

💚 A beautiful, modern playground for children of all ages and abilities.
💦 A splash pad to help families cool off during our South Texas summers.
🚶‍♀️ Expanded walking trails for walkers, joggers, and cyclists.
🌳 More shade trees and comfortable seating.
🧺 Updated picnic spaces for family gatherings.
🚻 Additional restrooms.
♿ A place where every child has the opportunity to play.

This isn't about criticizing what we have; it's about building on something our community already loves!! Especially during the 4th of July when our city puts on a great fireworks show!
❤️🤍💙🎆🎇🇺🇸 The Medina County Fairgrounds is just next door as well!! So much goodness is in this historical land!

I believe Hondo deserves a park that reflects the pride we have in our town and the families who use it every day. I'd love to learn more about how our community could partner with the City of Hondo and explore grant opportunities that could help make a vision like this a reality.

So let me ask you...
✨ What do you love most about Hondo City Park #3? And if you could add one new feature, what would it be?

I'd love to hear your ideas. Let's dream together and imagine what the next generation of memories could look like. 🖤🤍🌳

I headed west over to D’Hanis this morning to pick something up with my hubby. I came across this fallen down structure & wooden entryway.

Can we get a little history about it! It’s located on the north side behind the Historical Downtown D’Hanis.

Thank you!!☺️

I've really been enjoying researching historical sites and buildings around Hondo, TX. I've come across so many interesting stories, dates, landmarks, pictures, and people.

I recently shared that 1124 18th St. is available to lease, but I wanted to share what it used to be when Hondo's transportation was still horse and buggy, before roads were paved, way back when Ave. M was actually called Bandera Ave.

✨ Step inside one of Historic Downtown Hondo's hidden treasures. ✨

A few days ago, I shared the exterior of this incredible building at 1116 18th St. Today, with permission from the owners, I'm excited to give you a look inside.

And wow...the character speaks for itself!😊

From the original brick walls and beautiful hardwood floors to the abundance of windows that fill the space with natural light, every square foot tells a story. It's easy to imagine the generations of people who have walked these floors.

This historic building, believed to have been built in the late 1800s to 1901, has served our community in many ways over the years. During the WWII airbase era, it housed a men's clothing store and dry cleaners that reportedly operated around the clock to serve military personnel and the community. This building has also been known to many of us as Graff's Western and Men's Wear!

Today, this remarkable property is looking for its next chapter.

Whether you envision a boutique, restaurant, coffee shop, offices, gallery, event space, loft-style living, or something completely unique, the possibilities are endless. The building offers incredible visibility in the heart of Historic Downtown Hondo, TX. and with negotiable terms, it's an exciting opportunity for the right buyer or investor.

What if Hondo's next great small business starts right here?🥳

Today I had the opportunity, with the owner's permission to tour the first-floor commercial space at 1124 18th St. in Historic Downtown Hondo, TX. the former home of God's Country Sweets & Eats. Walking through this beautiful building, it didn't take long to start imagining all the possibilities.

Built in 1895, this historic corner building is full of character. Original wood floors, soaring ceilings, large front windows that fill the space with natural light, and a beautiful bar that welcomes you the moment you walk through the door. The layout includes multiple sectioned-off spaces, access to a restroom, and a prep kitchen area, making it adaptable for a variety of business ideas.

Outside, the building is impossible to miss. Located on a prominent corner with excellent visibility from both Avenue M and busy Highway 90, it features a stunning mural by local artist Alyssa Raymond that has become one of downtown's eye-catching landmarks. Step inside, and you'll find another of Alyssa's beautiful murals adding even more personality and faith to the space.

Every successful downtown begins with someone willing to dream a little bigger. Maybe this is the place where a new café comes to life. Maybe it's a bakery, bookstore, boutique, wine bar, coffee shop, a collective space, market, or something Hondo hasn't even imagined yet!

Now it's your turn...

💭 If you could choose one business to open in this space, what would it be?

Tag the entrepreneur who has always talked about opening a business, or share this post with someone looking for the perfect downtown location. You never know, the next chapter for this historic building might begin with a simple conversation.
