🌳 Hondo City Park #3 {Dinosaur Park} has always been more than just a playground!! 🦕
It's where I walk and jog with my family. It's where we wave to neighbors doing the same. We've watched families enjoying a game of pickleball, kids shooting hoops, kids riding their bicycles, scooters, and skates, and parents pushing strollers or walking their dogs while little ones laugh and play. It's one of those places that brings our community together.
For more than 20 years, this playground has been part of countless childhood memories. But as I recently walked through the park with my camera, I couldn't help but notice just how much the playground has aged. The faded paint, rust in some areas, and worn equipment made me start asking myself...
What if we dreamed a little bigger for Hondo?
Imagine a park that serves everyone.
💚 A beautiful, modern playground for children of all ages and abilities.
💦 A splash pad to help families cool off during our South Texas summers.
🚶♀️ Expanded walking trails for walkers, joggers, and cyclists.
🌳 More shade trees and comfortable seating.
🧺 Updated picnic spaces for family gatherings.
🚻 Additional restrooms.
♿ A place where every child has the opportunity to play.
This isn't about criticizing what we have; it's about building on something our community already loves!! Especially during the 4th of July when our city puts on a great fireworks show!
❤️🤍💙🎆🎇🇺🇸 The Medina County Fairgrounds is just next door as well!! So much goodness is in this historical land!
I believe Hondo deserves a park that reflects the pride we have in our town and the families who use it every day. I'd love to learn more about how our community could partner with the City of Hondo and explore grant opportunities that could help make a vision like this a reality.
So let me ask you...
✨ What do you love most about Hondo City Park #3? And if you could add one new feature, what would it be?
I'd love to hear your ideas. Let's dream together and imagine what the next generation of memories could look like. 🖤🤍🌳
