This is one of the sneakiest things that happens during wedding planning because individually, every idea sounds SO GOOD. 🙈
And I genuinely love so many of them too!
But think about all the traditional wedding moments PLUS all the new ones we’ve added over the years.
First look with Dad. Bridesmaid reveal. Private vows. Ch*****ne pop. Golf cart portraits. Golden hour photos. Private last dance…
Put all of them into the SAME wedding and suddenly a huge portion of your day is spent leaving one moment to go create another “special moment.”
Here are three times I’d start saying no:
✨ When you’re recreating the same emotion over and over.
You probably don’t need four separate reveals just because each one would make a great photo.
If seeing your dad for the first time matters a lot to you, protect THAT.
✨ When the moment takes way longer than you realized.
That golf cart portrait idea sounds like a quick five-minute thing.
But getting there, getting situated, driving to the location, taking the photos and getting back can easily turn into 20 minutes.
That doesn’t mean DON’T do it! If it’s important to you, just make sure the REAL amount of time is built into your timeline.
✨ When creating the next moment means leaving one you’re already enjoying.
THIS is my biggest one.
If you’re having the BEST time dancing with your friends, do you actually want someone tapping you on the shoulder because it’s time for another set of portraits?
If you’re finally sitting with your family, do you want to get up because the schedule says it’s time for something else?
At some point, adding another “memory” starts taking time away from the memories already happening around you.
Sometimes saying no to one more planned moment is exactly what gives the real ones enough room to happen. 🤍
