Sitting cross legged on a sofa, facing the warmth of a fire and surrounded by four legged friends (Sidney and Moses, the labs. And Grace, aka “cloud walker”, aka the wolfhound mutt)
I was told
“We have a gift for you”, and handed a box covered in glitter and Christmas trees.
I could tell by the sparkle in their eyes that this was going to be special…
And it was.
My first zoom lens.
My first chance to feel like I am in two places at once, both near and far.
Followed by my first ever photography tour at an ecosanctuary for Mustangs.
Hiding out in the plains of Oklahoma is a 4000 acre ranch committed to preserving the wild in their spirit, the wilderness in their bones— This is Mowdy Ranch.
This is where I fell in love with marshmallow soft noses.
Where I was hugged by faces larger than my head + torso combined.
Where I felt touched by something beautiful.
And it was all a gift.
It was all so unexpected.
Undeserving.
And appreciated.
I hope in some small way, you can enjoy what I experienced here through my lens, and be inspired to go see the natural world around you.
Thank you for being a part of my story telling journey. 📸
