Second- why do I share reviews? Because there are a lot of people out there with a camera and can probably take some pretty good images, but how do you know if you’ll enjoy the process? How do you know if they can handle change or pivot when something doesn’t work? How do you know if they can add peace to a situation when your kid is having a little bit of a tough time? How do you know if they will clearly communicate with you? How do you know if they will take the time to get to know you + your story so you’re photographed not like everyone else?

If you’re not enjoying the experience or your photographer doesnt take the time to get to know you + what you need, you might not love the photos as much as you could!

& just want to say thank you to everyone how has trusted me with their family, their loved ones - it’s truly my honor đŸ€

A few things I’ve learned from working with + also from slowing down in my personal life:

-chaos does not equal a growing and thriving business, it just means you don’t have the systems in place to navigate and support your business
-if you’re working 24/7 because you think you have to, you’re actually wasting the already limited time you have
-if your business slows down/stops because you have a lot going on or big things happening in your personal life, then your business was built on your showing up 100% all the time which is not sustainable.
-if you’re running yourself into the ground to meet the needs of your clients, then don’t be surprised when you can’t show up the way you want for anyone/anything outside of your business.

Clients can feel when things are chaotic. You want your business to reflect creativity and intentionality, yet you work 24/7 and don’t leave time to rest, recharge, close the laptop, and slow down. How can you pour out something to your clients that you don’t have yourself?

Of course as an entrepreneur, you have to work hard. But you can work from a place of peace instead of chaos when you are confident in what your priorities are.

Let your yes mean yes and your no mean no. To go fast truly is to go slow đŸ€

I don’t take it lightly that I’m entrusted and have a front row seat into people’s lives, live stories, families, and all the emotions that come with that.

I always want my clients to:
-feel 100% comfortable, even if they are a lil nervous to be in front of the camera at the beginning
-encouraged and confident in who they are because yes my clients are beautiful on the outside, but they have hearts that’s are even more beautiful :,)
-express their genuine emotions for each other, not me overpowering those with a list of poses.
-to feel peaceful and fully able to be themselves (especially their kiddos)
-to have timeless photos that they can look back on that will never go out of style + can show their grandkids one day
-feel like family đŸ„č

Photography is slow, intentional, joyful, and intimate. It should be fun and peaceful, not causing you stress or discouragement because you’re striving for some level of perfection that doesn’t exist.

At the beginning of every session I always tell my clients a few things, one of them being “you’re welcome to share any ideas you have during the session. I never want you to walk away sad that I didn’t capture a photo you’ve always wanted.”

Of course I’m trusted with creative direction and I always leave time for creativity to occur, but my clients have a voice as well! You’ve dreamed of this day for so long, I want you to walk away with the photos you’ve always envisioned!

Photos aren’t just reserved for engagements or weddings, they can also be for anniversaries (or honestly anytime you want to). First, fifth, or even 20 year anniversaries 👀

Theresa + Roger were here on the island for their 20th anniversary! Roger even said that taking photos was his favorite part of the trip đŸ€­

I asked them what their reaction was to seeing their photos and they said “awestruck” đŸ„č I can’t believe people trust me with a front row seat into their most precious moments, I’m just so grateful.

I’ve started working at the HoMA because they have beautiful outdoor courtyards (and bc my cutie friend .garrigos works there hehe) and also because it’s a place where everyone there is moving slow.

I was walking in behind these two sweet older ladies who looked like they had been friends for decades. Friendships like that, love like that is slow because it’s takes time to develop.

You can’t go fast through a museum or you’ll miss so much. You’ll miss the art work, sculptures, and the scenery - how the wind blows through the trees + flowers so perfectly placed.

I hope while you’re here on my page, that you take the time to stop and look around. Like an art gallery, you can slowly scroll through photographs and see so many different beautiful people and their stories.

Slow down, leave the rushed pace of the mainland, and truly enjoy the time that you’re here :,)

We didn’t try to squeeze in as many photos as we could into the smallest amount of time. If we did, we would have missed so much, including the amazing light for these Jeep photos!

family + maternity on the beach đŸ€

These photos make me think of the quote “Making the decision to have a child – it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body” by Elizabeth Stone.

Mar was sharing with me that her and her son, when she was a single mom, came to this beach - so coming back with her husband, daughter, and a sweet baby on the way was such a sweet + full circle moment đŸ€

How beautiful and precious is your family. Your heart forever living on the outside of you. Your love growing in ways you never thought imaginable. You as a parent, being able to do more than you ever thought you could. Your photos should represent that, the genuine love you have for each other that is unique to you đŸ€

In a world craving human connection, it’s interesting that has manifested itself into more voices on social media. Everyone has an opinion, everyone wants to talk to you - all under the guise of connection and community. It allows you to hear what others are saying, potentially gain more knowledge, inauthentically feel connected to people, or a lot of people telling you what you need, want, desire, should have or where you should be in life. But what do you want? What do you actually want for your life?

When getting your photos taken, what do you want? Not what everyone else tells you should want, not what people say is the right or wrong way to take photos, what do you want? Social media and the world can often seem very loud and overwhelming. We weren’t meant to all act the same way, desire the same things, create the same way, or see how 20 other people took their photos. I’d encourage you, in a loud world, get back to what you truly want and find that. Don’t be swayed by all the voices. đŸ€
