Everyone wants candid photos but what does that mean and how do you achieve that candid look that you’re actually going to like?

1. Slow down! I know it’s seem like the opposite but when you’re not rushing from one pose to the next or when you leave time for moments to actually unfold - that’s when you get the best “in-between” shots!

2. You actually enjoy each other’s company. Sounds obviously but if you’re actually excited to spend time together, treat photos like an experience, and demonstrate the love you have for each other publicly - you’re going to see the emotion translate, which always makes for a great photo!

3. Let the kids be kids! No kid is going to stand and smile for an hour or even 30 minutes. Leave time for them to run around, to take breaks, to navigate emotions, and also have fun! Forcing your kids to stand and smile won’t allow you to achieve the candid photos you’re wanting!

4. Don’t try to simply recreate something you saw on Pinterest. That can be a good starting point, but candid photos are just that - they are candid! They aren’t posed! Don’t be locked in on one specific vision that you forfeit any movement or moments that would be great candids!

5. And trust your photographer :,) sounds silly and straightforward but I promise you I’ll notice the little things. The quick smile, the laughs, the details of the outfits, the fun angle, the dog chewing the coconut, the things that make you and your family unique!

A “quick photo session” doesn’t exist here 👀

Time is your best friend when it comes to photos, especially photos on the island. Let me give you a few reason why :)

1. Time to get comfortable in front of the camera! Unless you spend a lot of time in front of the camera, it takes time to warm up, get loose, feel like the superstar that you are, and for me to put you at ease to get those candid photos you’re wanting!

2. Speaking of candid photos: you have to leave time for moments to unfold naturally! I want you to have time to actually + genuinely interact with each other! How can I capture any in-between moments for you if there is no time for any in-between moments? Makes u think đŸ€”

3. You’re on the island and we take our time here! Your photo session should be an experience, something that you’ll talk about once your trip is over - when you’re showing all your friends back home all your photos - so no need to rush through it! You’re on island time 😏

4. Allows us to explore a location! There is the ocean, greenery, palm trees, mountains, volcanic rock - so many different backdrops even though you’re at one location. We can make your one location look like five different ones, but limited time means limited exploration!

5. You can do multiple things! This session with the Adam’s family - we did senior + family photos bc they trusted me with a larger amount of time. And we had time to laugh, joke, and get comfortable with each other, which just makes the photos even better :,)

6. Allows me to be creative, learn more about you, watch the light, and to try new things that align with who you are - not just “list of poses” that might look good!

7. Time already go by SO fast and this season of life will be over sooner than you want it to be! So I think we could all use a lil slowing down :,)

8. It’s just more fun, I promise :,)

There are plenty of photographer out there that will show up, snap some pics and call it a day! (And that’s totally fine by the way ) - but that just isn’t my approach + if that is what you’re looking for, I’m probably not your girl :)

Senior photos don’t have to be captured at home 💕

I love getting to meet people from all over the world through photography - but it’s so fun when you meet people from your home state (Texas) and with the same last name as you!!

I’m constantly amazed at how small the world is and how beautifully the Lord orchestrates plans for us to meet/find the right people at the right time!

Also so sweet to capture seniors, it brings me back to when I was a high school teacher - what a special time in my life :,)

If you’re on the fence about photos, jump the fence - I promise it will be worth it and it can keep you connected to such a beautiful place during such a beautiful season of life đŸ€

It’s ten years since your wedding day, the kids are growing up + playing in the other room, you have a very small moment with your spouse, your wedding photos pop up in the memories on your phone, and they instantly take you back to that moment đŸ„č

The beginning of your love story together! These photos allow you to to not only remember the emotions of that season, but provide deep appreciation for all that you and your spouse have built since that day :,)

You’ll have these photos forever, they never depreciate, they can be passed down to your kids, and they can always bring you right back to a specific moment in time - what a beautiful gift that very few material things can do đŸ€

Don’t skimp on your photos + find a photographer that will shoot and handle your photos with the same deep appreciate that you have

You can take family photos with a big group + they can still feel like “y’all” 💕

You can still get those candid, in between moments + don’t have to just stand and smile the entire time!

Also, you don’t have to shoot at sunrise to get great photos! We took these around 10 + I love how the light highlights all the beautiful colors of the beach :,)

one of the many perks of my job is getting to experience the love my clients have for one another. Remembering the proposal, the engagements, the elopement, the vows, the maternity, the babies - all the amazing memories that come with our photo session and it makes me shed a tear in gratitude while editing or just reflecting on how sweet this life is :,)

My clients trust me with their memories, time, and finances but you all hold my heart. I’d love to be married and have a family of my own one day so I can’t say thank you enough for allowing me to see the beautiful love that is still out there. And thank you for letting me in on all the emotion, the tear, the love, and the gratitude that you have for each other.
