A step into the serene mist of unknowning
the kind of wandering that starts in the body
before the mind catches up.
And somewhere between the trees and the stillness,
I stopped thinking about where I was going.
I've chased this feeling before
in other cities, other seasons, other versions of myself.
Though here it arrived without effort.
No ceremony. Just green, and quiet,
and the soft understanding
that I had been here before
in some dream I couldn't hold onto.
Maybe that's what nature offers us
To recognize and remember rather than escaping or evading.
A mirror so still
it shows you who you are
before the world asks you to be anything.
I didn't want to leave.
And I think that's okay too.
To want to stay inside something beautiful.
To wonder if this
just this
might be enough.
