This was one of the craziest evenings lighting wise. Half the sky was super dark, the other half was really bright. This family photo session gallery had so much variety with bright and moody. We even got a rainbow for like 2 minutes. Lala really brought some weird weather right before its arrival.

Harsh light mid day shoot for the win! Challenging myself with different lighting after being told for years to never shoot in mid day sun by most photographers on the internet. This year I am seeing lots of people realize there’s beauty at all times of day 🥹

We got power on today 😭😭🙌🏻 no internet still, but I will take it! Luckily editing software doesn’t require internet to be able to work, only sending galleries requires internet so I will be able to get everyone’s things finished on the edited side 🫶🏻

My husband got a text saying we will be with out power for 3 more days. Let’s hope these next couple days pass quickly 🤞...

What’s my storm prep? Junk food, editing photo galleries, and relaxing. Will we lose power? I would say there’s a good chance of that, but I will enjoy the silence and take some naps.
On to business! This was such a gorgeous stormy maternity couples session before this family moves off island. The wind was just windy enough to bring the drama.

You can always tell if someone really cares about something based on their actions. I hope my actions in constantly trying to learn and improve this business show.
Want to know something I wish I was better at?
The little in between close up details of storytelling photography. But I am always trying figure out new ways to shoot, and artistically capture things/people.
When you first join photography everyone has their own rules like only shoot during these times and in these lightings, or don’t dress people certain ways. And while I still agree with a lot of what I was first told online, at the same time other people thrive in breaking rules and doing photography exactly the way they want to do it, and you’re allowed to change your opinions.
A little late to this “kinda chic” trend? Perhaps. Let me know if there’s anything maybe a little unique about this photography business of mine that I missed.

My feed probably looks a bit crazy, but I really do try to edit things to fit the vibe of a shoot, sometimes that’s light and airy and sometimes it’s a bit moody. I love these light and airy edits! It’s a struggle being a family photographer who loves so many different editing styles and struggles making a firm editing style choice
