Consider this your sign to not be afraid of color on your elopement day 🌺🍊🫐🌲

Hannah and Logan’s elopement is something I think about often. It’s the perfect example of how your elopement can be with the people you love and also intimate, with splashes of color.

They started their morning getting ready at The Woodlands House surrounded by a handful of their closest friends and family, while I photographed all of the little details they had chosen for their day, along with some items I found in the home.

After a private first look, everyone gathered beneath the trees for their ceremony in the forest.

And then, we disappeared.

I took Hannah and Logan to Mt Hood. They exchanged private vows with the mountain behind them. We explored the mountaintop doing portraits along the way.

Meanwhile, their family and friends had completely transformed the glass greenhouse.

The area felt like it was dripping with color. I couldn’t get enough of it.

One of my favorite things about wedding days is that no two ever look the same.

Different rings. Different flowers. Different colors, textures, invitations, heirlooms, perfume, little pieces chosen intentionally—or carried with you because they mean something.

There isn’t one way a wedding is supposed to look. Every detail is a tiny reflection of the people getting married, the life they’ve built, and the day they chose to celebrate it.

And I really love that.

One of the most unexpected gifts this job has given me has nothing to do with photography. It’s the people.

Somehow, throughout my years of documenting love stories, I’ve also found some of the most meaningful friendships I’ve ever had. And I don’t think I’ll ever stop being amazed by that.

Someone randomly comes across a video of mine on the internet. They decide to trust me with such an important piece of their life. Suddenly, I’m flying to Michigan to photograph their engagement session, and a week later, they’re flying out to me for their elopement.

And in between all that, we became friends. Not just photographer and clients. Actual stay-in-each-other’s-lives friends. 🥹

There’s something so incredibly special about knowing this career has given me so much more than the opportunity to create pretty photographs. I get invited into some of the most intimate, exciting, emotional chapters of people’s lives—and sometimes I’m lucky enough that they stay in mine too.

What a ridiculously special little life this job has given me. 🤎

the best parts of this job have very little to do with a camera. 🤎

I get to turn the ideas in your head into something real. Make you feel comfortable enough to forget I’m even there. Show you the way your person looks at you when you’re not paying attention.

And somehow, I get to take a moment that lasted a few seconds and give it back to you forever.

So yeah… I think I have a pretty cool job.

It’s been one week since I left Oregon for North Carolina 🥹

I left behind places that held so many versions of me. Where I grew up. The place I built my business from the ground up. The mountains and coastlines I photographed countless love stories in. My favorite little spots, familiar drives, friendships, routines, and a life that had become so incredibly comfortable and mine.

But I’m so excited to be here and get to know an entirely new place. We’ve already started looking at homes, and for the first time, I can so clearly picture the kind of life we’ve always talked about building together. It feels like so many of those little “someday” conversations are suddenly starting to feel real. 🥹

I’m so excited to see where my life and business will be over time here.
