10+ things Iāve learned as a professional photographer šø
Photography taught me way more than how to take a good picture.
It taught me about business, communication, patience, confidence, boundaries, problem-solving, creativity, and knowing when to trust myself.
Iāve learned that the camera is only one part of the job. The way you treat people matters. The way you run your business matters. Understanding your equipment matters. And sometimes, the biggest lesson is learning not to give a damn what another photographer thinks about your work when they arenāt the person hiring you.
Iāve also learned that you will absolutely get ghosted after the inquiry stage⦠A LOT. š
And thatās okay.
Every booking, every difficult client, every mistake, every successful shoot, every late-night edit and every problem Iāve had to figure out on the fly has taught me something.
Iām still learning. Still experimenting. Still improving.
And Iāve got a hell of a lot more to learn.
For the photographers out there: whatās one lesson photography taught YOU that you wish you knew when you started? šš¾
