Engagement session outfit anxiety? I’ve got you. 👗👔

One of the biggest questions I get is, “What do we wear?!” The secret isn’t about being matchy-matchy; it’s about being cohesive. Here is my go-to checklist for nailing your engagement session wardrobe:

🔹 Coordinate, Don’t Match: I love it when couples show up looking like they belong together, but not like they are wearing a uniform. Pick a color palette (neutrals, earth tones, or jewel tones) and mix it up.

🔹 Hint at Your Wedding: Your engagement photos are a preview of the party! Try to incorporate a color or a style that hints at your wedding theme. It ties the whole “era” together beautifully.

🔹 Keep Movement in Mind: If you love that candid, wind-blown look, a flowy dress or skirt is KEY. It adds so much life and romance to the photos when the fabric catches the breeze.

🔹 Don’t Blend Into the Background: This is the biggest mistake! If you are shooting in a lush green forest, avoid wearing bright green. If it’s a sandy beach, avoid beige. You want to pop, not camouflage! 🌿🌊

🔹 Wear “You” Comfortably: The most important tip? Wear something that makes you feel CONFIDENT. If you are tugging at your clothes or uncomfortable in heels, it will show in your smile.

POV: You're a wedding photographer trying to get 15 people to look at the same camera. 😂 (I have a system for this!)

Let's be real, wrangling the family photo is one of the most high-pressure moments of the day! But after years of experience, I've got a few secrets to make it smooth, fast, and even fun.

My #1 tip? I always work with a pre-made list from the couple. This way, we don't miss anyone important and we can move through the combinations efficiently, getting you back to the party faster.

I'd also be lying if I said my secret "kindergarten teacher" commanding personality doesn't help a little! 😉 It's all about clear direction, a little bit of patience, and a lot of positive energy. Seeing the final photo where everyone looks happy and connected makes it all worth it.
