Just taking a moment for a breath today after a surprisingly busy summer. Why didn't everyone leave town in this heat? We love what we do here for our clients and get so much personal pleasure from helping people preserve their family archives. This morning when we opened our email, we received the kindest email from a client we delivered a project to yesterday...his last sentence being: "When you think of this project, please know an old man has great gratitude for your work.

Helping him preserve his lifetime of memories felt like helping the man from Theo of Golden...such a gentle disposition and air about him that leads one to take a moment to count blessings. (If you haven't read or listened to the book, I highly recommend it.)

We honestly feel like we're making an impact on the world one business at a time or one family at a time or just one person at a time. But we're smiling a little extra today knowing our hard work is appreciated. And want to thank each and everyone who allows us to be a part of telling their story!

Summer's are often "quiet" around here compared to the rest of the year, but today it seems typical in a different way...a client called and asked if he could bring us TWO boxes he wants us to review, choose important items from and then digitize what matters for the family. SURE. Bring the TWO boxes over! Then he arrived with SEVEN very heavy, full boxes.

It seems boxes often "multiply" between the time people start to launch a project and when they actually arrive. They have great intentions to go through them before they come to us, but eventually say, "Just take it, please. And work your magic."

Good news is Hayden does the intake with her typical smile...happy to help!

Quick update. We are not sending evite invitations to anyone for anything. Do NOT open any email invitation from us. We got a little email spam invite from a friend and it’s going to be coming your way if you are in my iCloud address book. Ugh! So DO NOT OPEN ANY INVITE. opening email is fine, just not anything saying CLICK HERE TO SEE INVITATION. Sorry guys! Mine took over a week to show up after I was warned so I let me guard down… it looked so legitimate.

Starting our 22nd year, we've decided to begin a "giving back" campaign here in Houston and have plans to work with various retirement and/or assisted living places with creating digital photo frames their residents can enjoy. If anyone knows of a particular place they can recommend we start, please reach out. We want to meet with the program director to discuss our ideas and see how we can bring some photos to "life" for everyrone to enjoy.

Someone once said if you take care of someone with dementia you lose them more and more everyday ok. When they get the diagnosis, when they go through different stages, when they need treatment and when they pass away. This is called "ambiguous loss".
As the brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. They could end up lying in bed, not moving and not eating or drinking.
There will be people who will scroll past this post because Dementia has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has battled or is still battling dementia.
To raise awareness of this cruel disease, I would like my friends to put this on their page today. Hold your finger on the post to copy and paste to your timeline.

Quick reminder to everyone to BE SURE YOUR PAYMENT METHOD STAYS CURRENT ON WEB STORAGE....In the past week I've had two clients reach out about their Google Drive storage...it's "expired" because of payment methods having expires. Their family photos are there, but not there. (Inaccessible.)

First, the good news is Google doesn't delete everything when payment expires, but you must get a new card on file to regain access. Years ago, I had a client lose all her photos because her credit card expired with Apple...so, I take this VERY seriously. Wherever you have stored your important photos, be sure you check it regularly to make sure payments don't expire.

It took two of us (digital nerds) over here to walk through, dig deep and get into Google AI Storage plan in order to simply "regain" access after a card expired. We finally got it and then downgraded to the Premium storage we needed (less expensive and no AI stuff which isn't needed for family photo archives.) Stressful even for us since it wasn't very straightforward.

But bottom line is we want everyone to always stay safely backed up in THREE places...on the web (cloud - Dropbox, Google Drive, icloud) as well as on an external hard drive in your possession and on a computer hard drive. (Like your C drive)...so, if you're not sure that you're safely backed up, please do some digging and/or call us so we can make sure your precious photos are safe and sound. Belt and suspenders is our hope for everyone so nobody loses sleep worrying about their digital archives.

We've been helping scan family history documents and needed to replace old-style binding once our scanning was complete. Just had a great experience with Powerhouse Discovery here in Houston and so impressed with their service. They bind things no one else in Houston was able to do. They were responsive and quick, and very easy to work with. Seeing all their equipment, I realize it's a place we can get very large family trees scanned (we come across those quite frequently...like rolled blueprints.)...
