What started as my love of capturing moments between horse and rider, and the partnership that they hold moved into capturing the joy in the faces of my usual subjects. I moved into doing Fashion, albeit niche fashion, and event photography. I currently take photos for both public events with the Rotary Club of Houston and Fashion and event photography for Enchanting Encounters Event Entertainment

In the work I do, I don't just get to photograph beautiful event spaces. I also get to work with talented Interior Designers like to help capture the dedication they put into the spaces where their clients live, work, and play. There is such a joy in documenting the beauty others put into the world. For me, it’s all about recognizing their passion and sharing that joy with others.

There was something magical about working with Taylor Demartino and on this session. Taylor and his team were tasked with making the stage at the a seated dinner for a fundraiser gala for the Houston Symphony .

I don't know that I will have another moment where the stage at the hall is cleared for me to perform my art again, but not even when I played violin in grade-school did I expect for that.

It is an honor to be trusted to capture these moments for event coordinators, venues and florists. These are moments that are incredibly time-bound, as you have to be completed before the start of the event.

Taking the moment to find the shots and vision of good that the event chairs, decorators, and marketing teams will be able to use to highlight the joy brought by the event and space. This helps for all parties to share their work and invite others to join on the next celebration.

I've been so fortunate to work with so many organizations over the years, including the for larger celebrations. This was one such occasion, as the consulate had unveiled a bust of Marquis de Lafayette at the Julia Ideson Building.

It was wonderful to see the legendary diplomat and attorney Charles Foster speak at this event as well.

In my role as a photographer, I have the opportunity to help foster both local and international relationships and collaboration. Be it in business discussions or in non-profit works that both make tomorrow better than today for everyone.

Photos like this share a vision of good, where we celebrate the collaboration of people across international lines to build great things, in this case America as part of the America250 Celebrations.

One of the things I love about the work I do is helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera. It is incredibly essential when doing professional portraits, as confidence builds stronger connections as who we are professionally is a major aspect of one's life.

My friend Serena, featured here, is a board-certified and award winning family attorney with Toombs Imel & Associates
Highlighting the attorneys in their best light helps when people are online considering assistance with the big parts of life.

Please comment, I would love to have discussion on this as we move into the weekend!

What are the milestones you celebrate? What slices of life do you appreciate celebrating for and with others? One of my personal philosophies is that nothing matters unless you add meaning to it. You’re allowed to decide what to celebrate.

Birthdays, retirements, weddings, sport events, holidays, your show dropped a new episode; you can celebrate anything you want. You can host friends to come and enjoy the little joys with you and make meaning out of things that you want to share with others.

What do you celebrate, or what do you wish was celebrated more often?

For me, I’m trying to get back into the habit of setting up family dinners. It was a tradition from my childhood that I miss fondly now that I’m older.

This little guy was snacking on a some elderberries growing in a neighbor's yard. They don't seem to mind the other birds and are friendlier than the white-winged doves seem to be!

I know these little dudes don't belong here in Houston (but neither do many other domestic species), but the red-vented bulbuls are quite fun to watch.

Continuing the idea of photos as a slice of life, I want to ask: When can you celebrate who you are now?

You’ve spent your entire life working on you, who you are now is a statement, it is the person who has survived against the odds to this moment! You are allowed to celebrate you as you are. Maybe, there are aspects of you that you would like to change, and with helpful posing and lighting we can lessen these aspects of self, while helping capture who you are today, this year, in this moment.

You need to celebrate you. This is a slice of your life, and who you are, not who you will always be.

When you think about the happiest moments in your life, did you know they would be the happiest?

What memories would you have wanted to cherish if you could have had someone else worry about slicing the moment? Where you just got to enjoy while your photographer made sure that the big moments are nudged and happen?

For me, I’ve watched 100s of events from behind the lens and as committee member and know that it helps to have someone who knows the plan. I’ve learned to ask and work with groups to figure out the hard questions: “What are the photos that will make the fliers for next year? What are the moments the guests and donors want to cherish?” Because I know at the core is the real question: What joy could you experience if someone else was ready to help at the event?

I’m excited to work with folks who help make that happen for my friends and clients. My stable of professionals and myself are ready to help you make the most of the moment.
