My favorite part of this job is that it doesn’t really feel like a job.

Sure, I get to take photos, but the best part has always been the people and the relationships that come from it.

I've been so lucky to call Amanda, a friend 🫶🏻

It all started with a maternity session for her very first baby.

Back then, neither of us knew that years later I’d still be standing behind my camera photographing the same family. Since that first session, I’ve photographed milestones, birthdays, family photos, and now another maternity session as they prepare to welcome baby number three.

I’ve watched her become a mom, then a mom of two, and now a mom of three. I’ve watched tiny newborns turn into little humans with big personalities. I’ve watched their family grow one chapter at a time.

At some point she stopped feeling like a client and started feeling like a friend. The kind of friend that texts you pregnancy news. The kind of friend you chat with about life, kids, and whether adding a third child is brave or slightly unhinged. 😂

And now here we are.

Maternity session number three.

Sometimes I think the photos are only half of what I love about this job.

The other half is getting to watch your stories unfold. Being trusted with the big moments, the little moments, and everything in between.

What started as a maternity session all those years ago turned into something I never expected, and I couldn’t be more grateful for that 🥹

September & October weekends and fall mini sessions fill fast!

Fall booking includes:
• Outdoor family sessions
• ALL fall minis
• Golden hour sessions
•Black & white in-studio minis
• Fall sports minis
• Cozy fall colors
• The busiest and most colorful season of the year 🤎

Between sports schedules, school, holidays and Michigan weather, fall availability is LIMITED and weekends always go first.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t in full survival mode right now 😂

We’re only 17 days into May and somehow I’ve already photographed:
• 16 sport sessions
• 50+ dancers
• 4 newborns
• 3 cake smash sessions
• 4 milestone sessions & 2 family sessions

…and I still have 8 sessions left to go this month!

Throw in school events, field trips, sports, end of year chaos for my own kids, emails, editing, proof galleries, scheduling, rescheduling, location scouting, outfit help, and finalizing June/July calendars… and my head is barely above water at the moment.

So, if my response time is a little slower over the next couple of weeks, please know I am working HARD behind the scenes trying to keep up with everything while still giving every gallery the attention it deserves.

This month somehow became November level busy out of nowhere… but honestly, I’m incredibly thankful. Thankful for every booking, every returning client, every referral, every family trusting me to capture these memories for them.

Now excuse me while I survive on caffeine, chaos, and pure determination until June 🥹

Today was one of those days that puts everything into perspective.

This morning, I spent hours with over 50 tiny dancers. Tiny ballet shoes, nervous smiles, little voices, missing teeth, messy buns, twirls in the studio and all the excitement that comes with being little. Then tonight, I photographed prom kids… somehow already grown up. Confident, beautiful, laughing with their friends and standing on the edge of adulthood.

And honestly? It hit me hard.

One minute you’re helping fix a crooked bow and making a little one laugh behind the camera, and before you know it they’re standing in front of you dressed for prom.

As I was driving home tonight, I couldn’t stop thinking about my own kids too. How mine are growing up right in front of me while I’m busy trying to soak in every practice, every game, every bedtime conversation and every chaotic car ride. It feels like yesterday they were tiny, and somehow they’re already becoming these independent little people with big personalities and even bigger opinions.

That’s the bittersweet part of what I do. I get this front row seat to time moving way too fast. I watch your babies become kids, and your kids become adults while trying to hold onto these seasons with my own at the same time.

The long days, the chaos, the constant running around… it’s all worth it because these moments really are so fleeting. One day the dance recitals, carpools, bedtime routines and prom pictures become memories we’d give anything to relive for just five more minutes.

Tonight my heart feels really full and a little emotional getting to witness all of it. 🤍

MaeBerry & Copenhagen in use on this cute sibling duo 😍 These babes are one of my OG families, and I truly love capturing their personalities year after year. My little Sloan has always hammed it up! And Ellis, well he was a hard nut to crack at first - but hitting myself in the head with a toy car seemed to do the trick (anything for the photo guys 😂)

PS : Both of these outfits are part of my growing little people closet!
