I hate that I even have to make this post, but before jumping into an even busier part of the season, I think it’s important to share.

I received a message from a new client asking why their gallery wasn’t finished because “they had seen me posting on social media consistently” 😳

Just for some context, the session was less than 2 weeks ago.

My contract states a turnaround time of up to 4 weeks for final galleries. That timeline exists for a reason. While I almost always deliver much sooner, I refuse to rush through someone’s memories just to meet an unrealistic expectation.

Running this small business involves so much more than editing.

Every single week I’m photographing sessions, culling thousands of images, hand editing galleries, answering emails, Facebook messages, and texts. Helping clients choose outfits, working on making my business better, scouting new locations, preparing questionnaires, scheduling sessions, keeping my studio clean and ready to go, designing custom cake smash setups, ordering props and supplies, planning upcoming minis, responding to inquiries, delivering galleries, and yes… posting on social media.

But there are two roles that will always come before all of that.

I’m a wife, and I’m a mom.

It’s summer. My kids are home, and these summers are numbered. They deserve a mom who isn’t behind a computer from sunrise to midnight. They deserve days at the pool, spontaneous ice cream trips, afternoons at the park, movie nights on the couch, and someone cheering from the sidelines at their sports. They deserve a mom who’s present, not one who’s constantly saying, “Just give me five more minutes.”

My children deserve the best of me. Owning a business doesn’t mean I’m available 24/7. It doesn’t mean my family gets whatever is left of me after I’ve answered every message and edited every gallery.

Social media is part of my job. Seeing me post online does not mean I’m choosing Facebook over your gallery. It means I’m marketing my business so I can continue this small business of mine.

If your gallery has gone beyond the turnaround time I promised, I absolutely want you to reach out. (Truthfully, I can count on one hand the number of times that’s happened in the last four years.) but sometimes, galleries get hidden in a spam folder. If you’re excited about your images, and couldn’t remember when they’d be delivered by all means send me a message!

But questioning why your gallery isn’t complete well before the agreed upon deadline because you’ve seen me active online is unfair. It assumes I’m not working, when the reality is that I’m balancing dozens of responsibilities while honoring every commitment I’ve made to every client, and to my family.

I have never forgotten a client.
I have never intentionally delayed a gallery.
And I will never sacrifice quality just to quiet impatience.

What I ask in return is simple: trust the process you agreed to when you booked. Every gallery is edited with care, in the order it belongs, and every family deserves that same level of attention.

Thank you to the clients who continue to show grace, patience, and kindness during busy season. I promise your memories are worth the wait.

I absolutely LOVE what I do, but being a wife, and a mom to those three sweet faces in this photo will always be my greatest priority - that I won’t apologize for and I hope you’ll always respect that. Because after all, I’m only one person 🫶🏻

Hi friends! 🫶🏻

We’ve had so many new faces around here lately that I figured it was time for a little reintroduction.

For those of you who are new… welcome! And for those who’ve been following along for a while, thank you for sticking around. It truly means the world to me.

I’m Liz. A wife to my best friend, mama to three incredible kids (13,9 & 7) and the photographer behind Moments That Matter Photography.

And yes… that’s actually me in these photos. 😂

A huge thank you to Shanyn Nicole Photography in Arizona for capturing my family. It’s been seven years since we’ve had professional family photos taken by someone other than myself, and I forgot how nice it is to simply show up, love on your family, and trust someone else to capture the memories.

Being on the other side of the camera was also a good reminder that my clients and I really aren’t all that different.

We all overthink outfits. We all wonder if the kids are going to cooperate. We all hope for just one photo where everyone is smiling at the same time. And we’re all trying to hold onto a season we know won’t last forever.

Motherhood is the WHY behind everything I do.

It’s the reason I picked up a camera all those years ago, and it’s still the reason I can’t put it down. Because becoming a mom changes the way you see time.

Suddenly you notice the little things.

The missing front teeth. The goofy way they say things. The way your toddler reaches for your hand. The flowers your little boy picks because you’re his favorite girl. The way your daughter still leans into you without thinking.

Those ordinary moments become the ones we miss the most. That’s why my sessions aren’t about perfection.

Of course we’ll get everyone smiling at the camera, but I also want the giggles, the cuddles, the wind blown hair, the forehead kisses, and the moments in between. I want your gallery to feel like your family - not a perfectly posed version of it.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll usually find me running between football, soccer, and cheer, editing after my kids go to bed, surviving on caffiene, or planning my next session while pretending my laundry doesn’t exist. 😂

A few random facts about me…

✨ I’m always cold. Hoodies in the summer kind of cold.
✨ Arizona has completely stolen my heart.
✨ Caffeine + Chaos are what I live by
✨ I’m irrationally terrified of birds.
✨ I have WAY too many owalas, blankets and candles. It’s a problem of mine.
✨ Babies will forever be my favorite little humans. Give me all of the squishy cheeks.

If you’ve made it this far… thank you.

Whether we’ve worked together before, you’re planning your first session, or you’re just here for the support - I’m so grateful you’re here.

Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I hope you’ll stay awhile. 🥹

“Not every moment has to be shared. Some are meant to be remembered, not posted.”

This hit me tonight.

As photographers, we’re trusted with some of your most precious memories. And that’s something I’ll never take lightly.

Don’t get me wrong - I love sharing your beautiful families. I love celebrating your stories and showing off those cheeky smiles.

But somewhere along the way, social media made us feel like every beautiful moment has to be shared.

It doesn’t.

If you ever choose me to photograph your family and you’d rather your images stay private, all you have to do is tell me.

No questions.
No hesitation.
No explanation.

Because these aren’t my memories.

They’re yours.

Whether they’re shared with thousands or kept within the walls of your home, they’re just as meaningful.

And I’ll always respect that. 🫶🏻

No one talks enough about how every stage of motherhood asks something different of us.

With every new season, we have to adapt. We have to learn to be the version of ourselves our kids need in that moment of their lives. Just when you feel like you’ve finally figured motherhood out… everything changes again.

Some moms absolutely thrive in the toddler years. They love the sticky hands, the endless “watch this!” - the bedtime stories for the hundredth time, and the beautiful chaos that somehow fills every corner of the house.

Some moms find their stride when their babies grow into little kids. When conversations get deeper, personalities shine, and they become your little sidekick.

Others were made for the teenage years. They become the safe place. The late-night talks. The ride home after a hard day. The person their kids know they can always come back to.

But I think just about every mom, quietly misses the stages they’ve already lived.

The ones who would give anything to rock their baby to sleep just one more time.

To hear little feet running through the house.

To carry a sleepy toddler from the car.

To kiss scraped knees and somehow make everything okay.

It’s funny how when we’re in the middle of a stage, we find ourselves looking ahead. We count down until they sleep through the night, until they’re potty trained, until they become a little more independent.

Then one day you realize… the stage you were wishing away is the one your heart aches for now.

I don’t think motherhood ever gets easier. It just changes. We keep growing alongside our children, learning to love them in the ways they need us most. Every season stretches us, teaches us, and reminds us that our kids don’t need a perfect mom. They just need their mom.

So whether you’re soaking in newborn snuggles, chasing a fearless toddler, surviving the teenage years, or wishing you could go back for just one more day… I hope you give yourself a little grace.

You’re learning this stage for the very first time, too 🥹

Testimonial Tuesday 🥹

I don’t think my clients will ever truly understand just how much emails and messages like these mean to me.

As photographers, we spend hours behind the scenes. Planning your session, helping with outfits, chasing toddlers through fields and creeks, soothing babies, editing late into the night… all in hopes that when you open your gallery, you feel something.

Then I get messages like…

“We can’t get over how perfect these are, we would love to buy the full gallery.”
“We’ve finally found our family photographer.”
“Thank you for always capturing them so perfectly.”

Those words never get old.

To every family who trusts me with your milestones, your messy toddlers, your sleepy newborns, your big belly laughs, your first birthdays, and all the little moments in between… thank you. It is such an honor to tell your story.

I truly have the best clients, and I don’t take that for granted for a single second. 🫶🏻

If we’ve shared a session together, tell everyone what your experience was like. Nothing means more to a small business than hearing it from the families I’ve been lucky enough to photograph. ⬇️

🚨 IMPORTANT 🚨

Friends, I’m saying this a little earlier than usual, but I’m officially in the thick of busy season! 🫶🏻 (this month feels like November kind of busy)

Proof galleries and final galleries are going out almost every single day, and with the number of sessions I have this month, I need a little help from you to keep everything moving as smoothly as possible.

When you receive your proof gallery, if possible, please try to make your selections within 48-72 hours. This helps me keep the editing process flowing and gets everyone’s galleries back as quickly as I can.

A few quick reminders:
• Galleries are edited in the order selections are returned.
• Once you’ve finished choosing your favorites, please click “Send to Photographer” (or send me a quick email if you aren’t sure it went through).
• If a balance is due for additional images or a gallery upgrade, I’ll send that invoice over right away. Once it’s paid, your gallery officially joins my editing queue.
• Remember, if you selected the full gallery option at booking - you will NOT receive proofs and you are automatically added into the queue!

I truly appreciate every single one of you and your patience during this crazy season. It never goes unnoticed, and I’m so thankful you’re here. 🥰

And one tiny favor… if you see this post, could you leave a like or comment? Facebook and I haven’t exactly been getting along the last couple of weeks, and every little bit of engagement helps 😂

Let them be little.
Let them run through the fields with wild hair and dirty feet.
Let them splash in the creek.
Let them have goofy smiles.
Let them twirl, explore, collect rocks, stop to pick flowers, and be completely themselves.

Of course we’ll get those smiling at the camera photos. But the ones you’ll treasure most are usually the in between moments.

The belly laughs. The muddy toes. The tight hugs.
The way they reach for your hand without thinking.

That’s what we’re chasing.

I don’t expect kids to sit perfectly still or smile on command. I want them to play, explore, and just be kids. Because childhood isn’t perfectly posed… it’s beautifully messy, wonderfully unpredictable, and gone far too quickly.

So let them be little. I’ll take care of the rest. 🫶🏻
