🖤
They say that as a photographer, I need to be "showing up to make content" for social media.
I need to be "engaging with my followers", "making relatable content", and "be active on social media".
But, that is not why I'm a photographer. And that, my friends, is why I won't be reduced to being a "content creator".
Your life is not social media content.
Your life is not for clicks or views.
Your session is not meant to be recorded in the hopes that it goes viral from my reels.
You've hired me to document THIS moment in your lives.
The rainbow baby you've fought and prayed so long for.
Your earth-side children that run and play, while one of them rests in heaven.
The last few blissful months with your beloved grandmother.
Your whole family together for the first time in several trying years.
Marrying the love of your life after all those patient years of waiting.
The bittersweet freedom after surviving and escaping an abusive relationship.
Celebrating the nervous excitement of the first child graduating high school, and the sadness of seeing the last one graduate.
I am here, for YOU. For THESE MOMENTS.
I am not here to make them into viral content. I am not here to find my 7 seconds of fame through your struggles or triumphs.
Will I share some moments? Of course; every session is a wonderful work of art.
But during our sessions, my focus is 100% on you.
This is your story to write, not mine. I'm only here to help you illustrate it.
And that is why I don't bother to "make content".
- sincerely, a photographer who loves the beauty of life.
