AFTER THE STORM (PART 2)

I had to share a couple more shots from Monday night as the sun peeked out from beneath the storm clouds and then faded beyond the horizon.

GRENADIER HORIZON

“Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.” - Psalm 90:2

One of my personal favorites. While driving the obscure dirt road to Porphyry Basin (I’ll post a shot of that another day) in the , I saw this view out my window and had to stop and take a photo. The magnificent Grenadier Range on the horizon is, to me, one of the most beautiful ridges of mountains in the country.

The 2nd photo is a close-up angle of Vestal Peak and Arrow Peak, which are the two prominent peaks on the right side of the first photo. This shot was taken from a nameless ridge in the Highland Mary Lakes area of the San Juans.

MEMORY PARK MEMORIES 🌊

Taken from the “outcrop” at Memory Park in Shell Beach. It was a stormy day, but the sun was peeking out here and there, so I figured there might be a chance it would break through at sunset. God did not dissappoint. 😊

And no, I couldn’t decide between the two, so I just posted ‘em both. 🤔🤷‍♂️ If you feel led, let me know which one you like better. 🙏

The sun breaks through at north Pismo Beach.

That's my daughter Ryan standing out there (second photo) not caring how wet she gets as long as she can connect with God's creation. And I wouldn't want it any other way. 🥰 Definitely the highlight of the experience for me as the sun faded out past the horizon.

Deep Lake reflects a deep sky...
East Temple Peak and Temple Peak reflected in Wyoming's Wind River Range.
THE STORY: I was backpacking in Wyoming's (amazing) Wind River Range a few years ago, and had just been on the other side of the ridge on the right, behind the sharp and slanted-looking East Temple Peak. Such a different view from there, I highly recommend the off-trail trip past Black Joe Lake! I wondered what the peak would look like from the west, so I crossed the south shoulder of Haystack Mountain and headed up to Deep Lake. The next morning God blessed me with this magnificent reflection!

My dream photograph...
Titcomb Lakes reflection at the heart of Wyoming's Wind River Range
THE STORY: Years ago, I saw an image online of this basin from this angle with this reflection. It was by a blogger who called himself "Old Man Travels." Alas, the link doesn't work anymore and I can't find him online, else I'd share his inspirational photo. In any case, his photo made me dream of seeing this place and this exact reflection. I had visited Titcomb Basin 20 years before, so I just had to go back. God was good, and gave me the stormy/moody weather I had hoped for so I could get my dream shot. 🙂

Reminders of wonderful moments in time are so... timely.
Inspired by a beautiful photo by (check it out, it's a great shot he just posted).
THE STORY: Living in Ventura, CA, waaaay back in the day, and I realized the cost-of-living was getting tough. So she says: "Hey, Paco, let's sell one of the cars, put a few things in storage, sell the rest, then take a road trip all summer!" Yeah, she's amazing like that. 😍 So we did. One of the highlights was Glacier National Park, and seeing this breathtaking view of Reynolds Mountain from Logan Pass (at the top of Going to the Sun Road). It was one of my favorite moments ever in all of our adventures. Thanks, babe, for the way you see and live life. Oh, and ask about our Winnebago epiphone while driving that road... 🤔

East Vidette rises into the sky...
I just had to share another photograph of this magnificent view. Perched off trail on the side of a nameless cliff, I was just about in heaven. Not quite, but close. 🙂
"From ancient times no one has heard, no one has listened to, no eye has seen any God except you who acts on behalf of the one who waits for him." - Isaiah 64:4
THE STORY: Every single time I hike the John Muir Trail between Bullfrog Lake and Vidette Meadow, I stop a zillion times to stare at this mountain. It's one of my favorite views ever, so I decided I'd try to find a bit of a different angle of it off the beaten path. I found a spot on the side of a cliff, squeezed my tent between a few rocks, and enjoyed the moment.
