The first time I met Abbie James, she was an absolutely adorable toddler running around her backyard as her sister‘s shadow. She has grown into an absolutely stunning high school senior with a heart as big as her smile! It has been such a joy watching her grow up over all of these years. It’s open nest season at my house. In 2007 I started Erin Cobb Photography out of my kitchen four months after my last baby bird was born. Last month he graduated high school and will take flight to Minnesota in the fall for a fabulous college adventure, testing just how far his newly sprouted wings will take him. A wise friend of mine told me I should view this next stage as an open nest, not an empty one. After all, birds always fly home.

Eighteen years in this business has given me such perspective into the lives and hearts of the families I’m blessed to work with. Some of you are in the stage on the left...a baby in your arms, a toddler sprinting away. And some of you are in the stage on the right...your “baby” towering over you, an older sibling snapping the picture. And some of you are right smack in the middle - of the ballpark and the dance studio and swimming pool - the real working years.

Wherever you find yourself in 2026, I hope you’ll come celebrate with me at the Cottage. Every stage that we get to have with these beautiful children of ours is a blessing. Every age is a joy. Every heart a gift. I hope to see you soon.

Everyone keeps asking how much I’m going to miss my son who is going to college in Minnesota, but the reality is… I’m equally going to miss his friends! Like Jonah, who has been a staple in our house since middle school. Truly, it won’t feel the same at the Cobb house without this smile around! But I’m very happy with his college choice so I will let it slide that he’s leaving us too. War Eagle, Jonah!

What a treat this session was! I have known Heath since he was teeny tiny and he has always been such a fun-loving and chill person to be around. His senior session was no different. When he told me that he was only there to make his mom happy I promised him I would have him back in his car within 30 minutes and we did it! If you have a hesitant senior, get in touch. I promise we can make it happen in a way that leaves everyone happy!
