THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. 🏈

The 2026 football season is officially underway, and Hurricane Media was on the sidelines at South Charleston as the Black Eagles opened their 100th year against the Nitro Wildcats.

Packed stands. New season. Rivalry football. And that first-game energy that makes you remember exactly why we missed this.

We’ve pulled a few favorites from the night to share here, but the FULL Hurricane Media gallery is officially LIVE.

And yes... there will be a MaxPreps submission.

But Hurricane Media followers get first look. 😏📸

This is what a Thursday night High School football game in West Virginia looks like.

We’re bringing this one back because frankly, we never got over it. 🖤☂️

With a brand new edition of Gladys Magazine arriving this week, we’ve been looking back at some of the incredible models Hurricane Media has had the opportunity to photograph for Gladys over the years.

And there was no way we could revisit those shoots without coming back to Emily Mines and Red Carpet Glam.

Nearly a year ago, we took that theme and ran with it.

A sweeping black gown. The Capitol steps. Red carpet. A rainy West Virginia day that gave us the perfect excuse for one very red umbrella. And then, one of our favorite discoveries of the entire shoot, the Capitol dome and glowing lights reflected in the glass behind Emily.

The result felt less like simply photographing a beautiful dress and more like creating our own little cinematic world in the middle of Charleston.

Gladys ultimately selected other images from Emily’s session for publication, but these?

These were the ones we never stopped thinking about.

And considering she was only 15 years old, the presence she brought in front of the camera was pretty remarkable. It has been even more exciting watching her modeling career continue to grow since.

So while we wait to see what made the pages of the newest Gladys edition, we thought a few old favorites deserved another trip down the red carpet.

Because published or not, there are just some photos that are worthy of the spotlight. 🖤

Five years ago, Alpha Academy started with one team in Hurricane, West Virginia.

This weekend, more than 13 teams, 100 families and athletes from four states came together at The Rock for the second annual Alpha Day.

And that growth is about so much more than softball.

Alpha Academy was built around developing athletes from within, teaching young players the game while also helping them grow into great teammates, leaders and members of their communities.

Saturday, you could see that philosophy everywhere.

The newest 7U players took the field. Older athletes competed. Alpha's 16U Osborne team spent the day paired with younger teams, building relationships with the players coming up behind them. Coaches coached. Families filled the sidelines. And from the first scrimmage of the morning through the final games of the afternoon, an entire organization got to be together in one place.

Five years.
One team became thirteen-plus.
Players now come from four states.
More than 100 families have become part of Alpha.

But maybe the coolest part of Alpha Day wasn't seeing how big this organization has become.

It was seeing how connected it has become.

Hurricane Media was busy with our Alpha Day, and we've still got plenty more from the older girls loading tonight.

Until then, here's another look at a pretty incredible day at The Rock.

Games are just a little better when you get to see a familiar face back where they belong. ⚽

Hurricane Media made a quick stop at Nitro Saturday as the Wildcats took on St. Albans, and between the heat, the hard challenges and more than a little chaos around the goal, there were plenty of moments worth catching.

But one of our favorites had nothing to do with the final score.

It was pretty fantastic seeing our friend Julian Perez back on the field after an injury, this time wearing a new uniform and beginning a new chapter with Nitro.

We've photographed Julian plenty of times before, so seeing that smile from the sideline again felt pretty good.

New school. New number. Same game.

Welcome back, Julian.

1,000s of photos uploaded. One memory card still waiting. And we're nowhere near finished. 😂🥎

Hurricane Media spent the day with Alpha Academy catching a little bit of everything that makes youth softball so much fun.

Big swings. Bigger slides. Diving for balls that might be just out of reach. High fives from coaches. Dugout conversations. Game faces. And plenty of personality in between.

And these kids came to PLAY.

Here's just a small look at what we've found so far while we keep working our way through an absolutely ridiculous number of photos. 😂

Alpha Academy, your gallery is coming. 🥎

Holding onto summer just a little bit longer. 🌻

Senior Rep Delaney absolutely showed up for this one.

Blue skies, late-summer sun, a field full of sunflowers, one ridiculously heavy chair 😂 and even a little cameo from Brady.

There are some sessions that just feel like the season you're in. This was August in five photographs.

Class of 2027, your senior year is officially here. ❤️
