We’ve all heard the expression “sometimes life throws you a curveball” right?
Well, what I hadn’t been told is that sometimes, life will throw you a curveball when you got two strikes, 2 outs at the bottom of the 9th inning, at your championship game.
This time last year, I was extremely motivated and had such a crystal clear vision of the future; 10 days later my stepfather would suddenly die and the domino effect would begin. Shortly after, I began to lose things, first my mental health, then I would lose the person I thought I was gonna wake up to everyday, next I lost all self-control which led to an unfortunate accident/injury and lost the ability to do pretty much anything, I lost all motivation to even get out of bed let alone pick up a camera or open my laptop, and lastly I lost myself….
Don’t be fooled by this post, as it is not a negative one, in fact, I have finally seen the positive in all of this; Just as surely as bones heal, so does everything else. Just as I learned how to walk again, I’m learning how to live again. This time with empathy, not apathy. This time with no plan, but with a purpose. This time with no ego, but with a clear sense of self. Life forced me to take a long hard look at myself, and I didn’t like what I saw, but that doesn’t mean it cannot change.
Maybe just maybe, the universe broke everything in order to rebuild differently.
And just like broken bones, when we come back we come back just as strong if not stronger.
I hope you’ve all been well during this hiatus, and I look forward to seeing many of you soon!
