Crazy how during the Winter I can prepare my mind set that it is going to be cold for my sunrise beach walk and so, the cold doesn't bother me. Yet today's sunrise temperature in the high 50s with 10mph winds felt too cold to be at the beach. That's why I did a short photo sessions on the pier today. Normally, I take a 1-3 hour walk. Today, I was there for 10 minutes and thought, let's skip the walk and go home for a second cup of coffee.
The moon was still visible at sunrise this morning. The pink hovering over the ocean was perfectly gorgeous. Eventhough, the moon and the pink Southern horizon stole the show the late appearance of the golden sunrise coming up over the island made for beautiful a start to the day.
When I arrived at the DoubleTree pier two teenage girls were waiting at the end of the pier with anticipation for the sun to come up. When I reached them I explained, if you walk back to the beginning of the pier you can see the sun coming up in that open space between the buildings. So, they did and took a picture of it. I told them if they were still here tomorrow that they could walk directly across the street to the end of Pelican Dirve. From the public access Sound Side Pier they would have an actual view of the sunrise coming up over water on the Bouge Sound.
If I had woken up earlier that is what I could have done myself. Instead I made a quick decision to go straight to Doubletree Pier just intime to catch the grand entrance.
