One of the most common things I hear is,
“Wow, your editing is amazing.”
And while editing absolutely matters… it’s only part of the story.
These are from a recent photography shootout in Sacramento, showing the progression from straight-out-of-camera to final images.
What most people don’t see is that the final result is built before the edit ever happens:
• Understanding light and how it falls on a subject
• Getting exposure right in real time
• Creating consistency across an entire session
• Knowing what will translate well in the final image
Editing should enhance what’s already there, not fix what wasn’t done in-camera.
This is the kind of work that happens behind the scenes, and it’s what creates images that feel polished, natural, and consistent every time.
