Wonderful opening reception for the Harold Bradley Jr. exhibit at the Iowa Memorial Union last night. My short video about Bradley Jr's unique journey from football, acting, singing to cultural entrepreneurship plays on a loop. Very exciting to have nearly the entire Iowa football team there! You can visit the exhibit any time the IMU is open on the second floor near the Division of Student Life at the University of Iowa.

Join us this Friday at the Iowa Memorial Union for the unveiling of a multi-media exhibit about the great cultural entrepreneur and football player, Harold Bradley Jr. Harold was born in Chicago and came to the University of Iowa to study art and play football, breaking color barriers along the way. He would go on to play in the NFL before traveling to Italy, becoming a movie star and playing a large part in bringing American folk music to Italy. Very excited to have his family members in town from Italy for the exhibit opening!

Lost in the In-Between: Graduating into 2020 is screening at the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival this weekend! I had the great privilege of working with the crew at the The Daily Iowan on this tremendous film as an editing coach. Very really excited to see it begin to play festivals and find an audience beyond the University of Iowa community.

Synopsis
“Lost in the In-Between: Graduating into 2020” captures the poignant moments of 2020 graduates from the University of Iowa as they try to navigate the challenges of young adulthood in a world that feels forever changed by the pandemic. A production of the Daily Iowan Documentary Workshop, where student and early-career documentary filmmakers work alongside seasoned professionals, the film delves into the challenges of mental health brought on by isolation and an uncertain future, the anxieties surrounding the search for employment in a struggling economy, and the added complexities of grappling with issues of identity. Despite these hardships, the students in the film demonstrate remarkable strength and resilience and find ways to express their true selves. “Lost in the In-Between” highlights their stories of perseverance and hope in the face of adversity.

Lekker gezzelig! Thank you Rotterdam, for an amazing reception—a city living and breathing film for two weeks, two sold-out Brinton shows (with two more to play!), #5 of 593 in audience balloting, so many talented and inspirational new friends, aged wisdom and fresh ideas, preposterous and wonderful architecture, tiny coffees and endless sushi, fan art, signing autographs and meeting cinema heroes, plus tigers and tigers and tigers oh my.

International Film Festival Rotterdam - IFFR was, in ways large and small, the perfect way to introduce this story to an international audience. It won't be the last time we cross the pond, but it was a memorial first. Thanks again to the citizens and curators of one of the world's great festivals.
