I have lived in Iowa Falls for years now, yet the Union Depot only appeared on my radar once I started scouting for this session. It is slightly embarrassing how a place can be "sitting in my own backyard" before I actually notice it exists.
Wyatt left the creative decisions entirely up to me, so I decided to go full Wes Anderson. My entire vision was centered around a specific, rusty train car I found during my ocular. I was so certain it was a permanent historical display or at least a very heavy, abandoned relic.
I arrived at the shoot in the afternoon only to find the tracks empty. Goodbye, train car poses. Apparently, my stationary historical landmark decided it had places to be haha!
I am just glad Wyatt was game to pivot when our main prop decided to choo-choo out of there. Nevertheless, we stayed focused on him and used that bright afternoon light to find a different kind of cinematic mood in the open space.
Here are a few pics from his gallery.
