During family sessions, I’m always balancing big energy with quiet moments.

The laughter, the movement, the chaos, and then the pause that almost goes unnoticed while it’s happening.

This image holds one of those pauses.

There’s something about the closeness and alignment here, the softness in her expression, the way the baby settles naturally into her, that feels grounding.

I make sure to never direct too much, I create space for connection to unfold on its own.

There’s something rare about a gathering.

Not just the event itself, but the feeling of looking around a room and realizing that the people who have shaped your life are all there at the same time.

Different generations. Different seasons. Different versions of you.

Weddings especially carry that kind of weight. It’s one of the only days when your childhood, your present, and the life you’re building next all overlap.

Maybe that’s why they matter so much.

Not because everything is perfectly styled (though I appreciate beautiful details), but because time slows down just enough for you to notice. A hug that lingers. Your parents watching you when you don’t see them. Friends who have known you through every version of yourself.

As a photographer, and as a mom who feels how quickly seasons change, I can’t help but be aware of how fleeting it all is.

Gatherings aren’t performances to me. They’re proof.

Proof that you loved and were loved back.
Proof that people showed up.

And years from now, it’s often the quiet in-between moments that mean the most. That’s what I’m always watching for.

I’m drawn to images that feel effortless but intentional.

For this set, I leaned into movement, letting the wind, the landscape, and their connection shape the frame rather than controlling every detail.

I guided them into a frame where water existed both in the foreground and the distance. Combined with the soft light and openness of the space, it created something quiet and cinematic.

It’s less about directing a pose and more about noticing when everything aligns and allowing the moment to unfold naturally.

This photo almost didn’t happen.

We were on our way to the altar for portraits when I noticed unexpected light pouring through a window we hadn’t planned for.

So I slowed down, checked in, and pivoted.

Moments like this are why I stay present. The magic often lives in the quiet shifts, the subtle light, the feeling you can’t recreate twice.

And honestly, it became one of my favorite images from the day.

I realized this is something I say on the first call I have with almost all my couples.

I believe your wedding is not a production for photos, but photos are all about documenting your day. My approach is ‘guided documentary’ - I make sure your moments unfold organically but I’m also there to guide you, especially during portraits. The end result is a beautiful gallery with genuine heartfelt moments balanced with timeless portraits.
