The Upper Peninsula doesn't get too many thunderstorms. It is however, my favorite subject to photograph. Here, a strike landing near Little Girl's Point, which is on the south shore of Lake Superior, Gogebic County.

During strong aurora shows, when pillars and rays converge overhead, it is known as "the corona", which is an absolutely spectacular view. As the aurora begins to break up, rapid aurora pulses can be witnessed, traveling thousands of miles per second from the pole towards the equator. This was taken on a G4 level solar storm on September 16, 2024 in Gogebic County.

The Western Upper Peninsula's Black River - as it approaches the suspension bridge and harbor with its name. River is known for its incredible waterfalls, five of which are only about two miles apart. Image from November of 2022. All five can be hiked in a day following the North Country Trail north of Ironwood and Bessemer, Michigan.
