A Grand Old Carol tells the story of Darol J. Drumpf, a self-absorbed man who has little regard for those around him. His life takes a dramatic turn on the night of an election when he is visited by the ghost of his former friend and confidant, Geoffry Swinestone, who warns him of the consequences of his selfishness and greed and tells him he will be haunted by three spirits before morning.

The first, the Ghost of the Past, takes Drumpf through some memories he would rather forget: his childhood, his rise to power, old friendships, lost relationships, and the people he left behind along the way

The second, the Ghost of the Present, shows him a world continuing to live beyond the walls of his gilded existence. Families gather, children play, political opponents share a drink, and ordinary people carry on with their lives while the nation's election dominates the headlines.

Finally, the Ghost of What is Yet to Come presents Drumpf with a future in which his family barely mourns him, and the legacy he leaves behind is far different from the one he imagined. Drumpf is faced with his own mortality and a grave bearing his name and a legacy remembered only by strangers around a bonfire.

A Grand Old Carol is a story about greed, power, and legacy, and asks the question: Can someone really change?
