Ring. Ring. Ring.
The history of an engagement ring is a fascinating story. They have long been used as symbols of commitment. In fact, ancient Romans used “truth rings” to reference a committed bond between two people. The rings were made from twisted copper or even braided hair.
If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Why do you wear an engagement ring on the left hand, third finger?”, you may be surprised to hear that it has been synonymous for a very long time. The Romans believed the third finger on your left hand was significant because it held the “vena amorous”, a vein that led to your heart. Though this idea was later disproven, the tradition stuck.
Two years ago, on December 8th, Matthew decided it was time to commit after 7+ years of dating. I was ready at year 2 😅 I was so surprised and excited when he popped the question in front of his family. Our ring symbolizes the past, present, and future. He had the ring for about 8 hours before asked the most important question. And, with no doubt, I said yes! I had fun setting my ring up for some close ups and capturing the beauty! This was my favorite. Simplicity.
