Meet the fastest land mammal in the Americas: The Pronghorn. These beautiful creatures have been around for over 20 million years. Why do they run so fast? Because they evolved to outrun the now-extinct American Cheetah.

Grizzly Bear encounter with kids in Grand Teton National Park….National Park Service Rangers are charged with visitor safety, outdoor recreation, education and natural resource preservation. Meet Solo. This sweet two year old, also known as “Miracle,” is Grizzly Bear 1063’s estranged cub. Just a year ago, this bear was a teeny tiny lil’ nugget trying to keep up with their mama and siblings. When the siblings died and mom prematurely left Solo behind, I figured it was the end. But the tiny fighter did not give up and emerged this spring ready to take on the world. What once seemed to be a “Miracle” is actually an exceptionally tough cub with a will to survive on their own.

Recent photo of Solo taken from my vehicle with a telephoto lens.

ETA some of us call the bear Solo while other people choose Miracle. Call the cub whatever you’d like and enjoy the photo. Above all, keep advocating for wildlife conservation.

Grizzly Bear 610 was spotted several times in the last few days with a single cub, despite multiple previous appearances with twins. Yet Grizzly 610 has an excellent track record when it comes to mothering. In fact, prior to this season, only *one* of her many cubs died before emancipation. Grizzly 610 even raised one of 399's cubs as her own! This is quite an accomplishment, given that grizzly cub survival is basically a coin toss.

Pictured here: one of Grizzly Bear 610's subadult triplets in 2024.
