Refusing joy in sobriety due to past grief or addiction is a wicked mindset. Sometimes, a gentle hug is needed, but often, especially with men, a firm 'Get over it' is more loving. True growth requires confrontation, like being told your house is on fire. Guardrails are smart; smart people don't curse them.
