📸 Behind the Shot at The Patio at 5th & Ash
One of the things I love most about food photography is telling the story of a place, not just a plate.
For this shoot at in Fernandina Beach, I kept things simple and intentional. Using my Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 and a straightforward lighting setup, I focused on highlighting not only the food but also the atmosphere that makes this restaurant so special.
I added light to the background to bring out the character of the space and create a connection between the dishes and the environment around them. I never like isolating food from its surroundings because great dining is about more than what’s on the plate—it’s about the experience, the ambiance, and the feeling of being there.
The food may catch your eye, but the atmosphere is what makes you want to stay.
