Today I come to you with a heavy heart. The weight of today started to creep in early yesterday when I realized the date was looming, and then to witness the tragedy of the assassination of Charlie Kirk made the weight of these two days seem insurmountable. I miss the America we had on September 12, 2001 where there was no division, political parties or creed didn’t matter and we were just united as Americans.
There is so much hatred going on in the world today and the enemy is taking joy in each and every act of division, hatred and pure evil.
Most of you know that I am from New York City. I witnessed first hand the tragedy that struck our city on September 11, 2001. Our apartment in Queens faced the NYC skyline and after that day there was a gaping hole in the skyline and in our hearts. Families were torn apart by senseless acts of violence, but as New Yorkers, we helped each other out and picked up the pieces to rebuild TOGETHER. The unity and love for our fellow Americans that permeated our city and our country was felt long after the fateful events of that Tuesday morning.
It is terrifying to see the world in which we’re raising our children. As a millennial, we’ve experienced enough world-history events first hand, and we try to shield our children from the wickedness of the world. I found myself holding in tears until I was able to get my children settled in bed, and then they poured out. I cannot fathom the pain our parents and grandparents feel with all they’ve experienced in their lifetime…but this is what the enemy wants: Fear, division, chaos.
Our God is so much stronger than any evil the enemy can throw our way. The only solace many of us had yesterday, was knowing our brother in Christ was welcomed home with arms wide open and he got to hear, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’ Politics aside, Charlie Kirk was a messenger of the gospel- the good news. He set a fire in the hearts of many for Jesus and biblical principles. He taught young men, by example, how to be a spiritual leader for their (future) wives and families.
Do you know the enemy detests families and aims to divide? Don’t let the enemy win. Now more than ever, share the gospel with others. Share the love of Jesus Christ, because He IS coming back and the only thing we can bring to heaven with us is each other.
Let’s get back to that feeling on September 12, 2001: unity and hope, despite the loss, pain and suffering we were dealing with as individuals and as a nation. In 2001, we got through it TOGETHER. This is what we need to get back to. United we stand, divided we fall. September 11, 2001. We will never forget. 💔🇺🇸
Holy Father, please cover our nation in your loving arms. We need you now more than ever. Have mercy on us and help us have the courage to keep spreading your word. Help us find commonality with each other as human beings, and as brothers and sisters in Christ. You are the bridge. Jesus, You are the way and the truth and the life. I pray for the kind of peace only You can provide in times like these to those who are in mourning. I pray for our nation’s children to be shielded from the wickedness of this world. I pray for guidance for our nation and I pray for unity like we had on September 12th of 2001. I ask these things in the Holy, matchless name of Jesus. Amen.
May God Bless America.
