Tara is joy personified. Working with her was so much fun and she was just an absolute ray of sunshine.

As an Equine Therapist Tara wanted photos that weren’t your typical studio headshots. After in home hair and makeup by Gwenn 🖤 🫶🏽 💄🍸✂️ we headed to the stables and got to work. It was a million degrees but you couldn’t tell by how great her and her husband Cory looked. Cory needed a few photos himself in preparation for Farrier school 🐎

More to come from this session with Tara and Cory

A coaching post on my portrait page?

Yep.

Because I believe that:

Photographers and creatives deserve to make comfortable living wages just like any other career choice.

There are so many talented individuals burning themselves out for pennies that they end up reinvesting into their business. Never being able to get ahead, upgrade gear or invest in their professional education.

And because I know that as creatives we weren’t taught how to run a business. We were told to focus solely on the art but were never given the tools on how to create a sustainable business from that art.
Tell me if this sounds familiar:

You’re tired from undercharging and overworking. You’re burnt out from 2 a.m. editing sessions. You’re not able to enjoy family time or actually be present because you know you have a slew of galleries waiting for you.

The client experience suffers. Deadlines get pushed. Resentment builds on both sides.

Every year, you want to give up. To go get a “real job.” Every other week, you’re having a minor mental breakdown in the shower because you’re either so busy you can’t keep up or you’re struggling to pay the bills.

There isn’t a steady stream of clients. You’re constantly balancing between feast and famine.

Making a sustainable living doing this feels like a faraway dream.

Am I on to something? I know this because this is how I ran my business for years. Terrified of raising my prices because I felt like I was betraying my clients but really I was betraying myself by working for free. For spending time away from my family, trading time with them for *maybe* gas money *maybe* refilling my Starbucks card?

You don’t have to live like that. In this course I teach out to market and position yourself so that you don’t have to scrape by. So that you can give your clients the absolute BEST experience possible. One that involves pouring back into them and your community.

Imagine being able to run a business that loved you back, that’s what I teach in The Positioning Shift. Link is in our bio. I hope to see you there.

Beautiful food + bev shoot for Ransom Room

Sean and Gena were absolutely a pleasure to work with, everything I tried was so delicious and beautiful. No notes- just pure heaven in a glass. If you haven’t heard, they are now open for lunch. Go pay them a visit 📍🍸

There simply isn’t a good excuse for asking a client to remove their glasses in photos. Between basic lighting skills and post production retouching for tricky lighting situations, glasses glares shouldn’t be an issue for an experienced photographer. Being a headshot photographer is a specialized skill set, the ability to manipulate light-or the ability to edit out your mistakes- is part of being a good photographer.

Meet Mya- the newest member of the team and the social media manager that will take your business to the next level. As the creative director, social strategist, and content specialist, she brings a hands-on, all-in-one approach to every brand she works with.

Mya has joined SPP to help shape the way your business shows up, connects, and grows
online.

With a clear vision for helping brands use social media to its fullest potential, she focuses on creating intentional, strategy-driven content that not only looks good but delivers real results.

We believe social media is more than just a marketing tool, it’s an opportunity to build trust, tell your story, and create meaningful connections with your audience.

Our goal for our clients is to take the visual imagery we’ve created together and help our clients move beyond simply “posting” and step into a more confident, aligned, and impactful online presence- one that reflects their brand, resonates with their audience, and supports long-term growth.

We’ve had clients get their photos back- and they’re thrilled but they didn’t quite know how to best use their new images. As a full service creative studio, we saw this as an opportunity to support you beyond photo and video and into the realm of social media management.

We are so happy to have Mya on the team, here to support you and your business’s goals. Book her as an à la carte service or receive a discount when you add social media management to any of our core services.
