It's been a year since I last posted on social media. A year without sharing birth stories, childbirth education tidbits, beautiful images of powerful moms, video clips of tiny babies emerging from shimmering birth pools.
And yet.
My business has grown so, so much. I have reached my cap of clients most months, and my Evidence Based Birth Childbirth Classes are always full. I'm in and among the birth community, secure in my connections, and absolutely loving my work as a doula (and my smaller role as a birth photographer!)
And my mental health?
WOW.
I looked up and realized I've been chasing algorithms and searching for validation on these platforms for 14 years. That extra room in my brain and in my schedule has given way to so much peace. I blocked IG and FB from my phone, so I can only access them from my computer. It's a whole lot harder to doomscroll from a desk in my office.
So here's my new path forward:
❤️ Yes, I am still in business, as busy and open to serve our expecting families as ever. If I ever close up shop, I'll take this page down. I am a doula, birth photographer and videographer, and I teach childbirth education; I would be honored to be part of your birth story.
❤️ No more social media posts. Comments are turned off, I've got an auto-reply on my DMs. I'm still a part of our local FB groups, but for the foreseeable future, you won't see me here on this page.
❤️ My biggest loss in this will be something that brought me a lot of joy: sharing local resources and spotlighting local birth workers. If you are local and looking for connections, please reach out (through my website, ha!) and I'll put you hand-in-hand with whatever you need.
