My soul requires periodic passion projects.
You see, as idealistic as the phrase, "If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life," is... it just isn't true. Doing what you love takes commitment, sweat, and sacrifice. And if it isn't hard, you aren't trying enough.
Not to mention, turning a passion into a business opens up your deepest secrets to criticism. There are times you can feel flat-out unappreciated for what you do because when what you love turns into an opportunity for profit, it sucks the very purpose out of it. There are certainly cathartic moments when your vision collides with someone who appreciates it. And wow, those times people seek you out from a great distance just to be a part of what you do. That's worth "working" for.
Occasionally, the artist in me just has to work according to my own standards—to see how far I can push myself—if I can reach that level I see others reaching.
All Heart Access with Stormy Solis and Mindy Morris Arnholt encouraged me to go the distance. Granted, I ended up stuck for two hours in a mud pit from hell, but I tried! Much gratitude to Ashley Grover for keeping her cool during the chaos! She is so stunning and she doesn't even see it. Please shower her with all the compliments
