Lippmann plates appear to be black-and-white images, but they transform into full color when seen at precisely the right angle. In order to fully display one of these in Anderson & Low: Voyages and Discoveries, our curator asked historic process specialist Nick Brandreth to create one that we could put in the exhibition. Here, you can see the final product of his experiments- a black-and-white image that, when viewed at an angle, blossoms with color.
