TWO WINDOWS: It's an election year, when the intensity of the fall colors in numerous states are usually matched by the intensity of the various campaigns. In Jacksonville, however, it's a little bit different. The colors are more intense, campaigning less so.

Jacksonville voters: I am running for a third term as a City Councilor. I wish to continue to participate in the important decisions facing Jacksonville and how it can maintain its historic nature and community spirit as it moves to meet the pressures of future growth.

To achieve this, I bring to the Council a deep passion for problem solving that is inclusive rather than either/or, all the while respecting the laws and codes that I am sworn to uphold. I have learned that it also requires me to bring an open heart to the table.

Please vote for me and the two other fully qualified candidates that I endorse: Andy Hellenthal and Ryan Hess.

A bit of news for a change:

In this election year, my second 4-year term as a Jacksonville City Councilor is up. I’ve decided to run for a third term to continue to participate in the important decisions facing Jacksonville and how it can maintain its historic nature and community spirit as it moves to meet the pressures of future growth.

Being a City Councilor requires some political experience. Wouldn’t you want to hire someone with experience to care for your new born baby, to service your RV or to operate on your bad knee? Choosing the most skilled from a group of candidates for a government office should be no different.

Experience counts, plain and simple! That’s why I wholeheartedly endorse Andrew Hellenthal and Ryan Hess as candidates to fill the other two vacant seats on the City Council.

Vote for GREGG, HELLENTHAL and HESS!

TWO WINDOWS: The fall always brings time for reflection. As I sit in our backyard, I watch the yellow and red leaves let go of their attachment to the trees and tumble to the ground. It reminds me of this image and poem from our October 2015 windows display.

TWO WINDOWS: So many people I talk to nowadays share how overwhelmed they are with all that's going on in their personal lives, their community, the country and the planet. As I looked through the past seven years of our window displays, I came across this one from March 2020. It seemed so appropriate to share at this time.

TWO WINDOWS: In 2019, Frank developed a fictitious character named Bobby Bee who wrote a book of poems dealing with simple everyday truths, insight and wisdom, such as this one about the kindness of neighbors.

TWO WINDOWS: When Frank and I created these two windows in July 2016, we wanted to counter the growing divisiveness in the country. Today, the image and poem are more of a call for unity than ever.

Every two weeks (hopefully) I will post one of our past front window displays of a poem by Frank and photograph by me. This one Frank wrote about a year after we moved to Jacksonville. I will call this series of posts Two Windows.

For years my partner Frank and I have been putting an image and a poem every month in our front windows which are right on the sidewalk. Beginning this year, I will be posting them on Facebook for all those who don't walk by our house. Enjoy!

A week’s worth of snow didn’t hamper dog walkers or children playing in Doc Griffin Park in Jacksonville. It’s now slowly being dissolved by days of rain.

Neighbors walk their dog past one of hundreds of historic homes in Jacksonville. This one is where the original Bozo the Clown (Pinto Colvig) was born and grew up.

From “A Year in Jacksonville,” a photo-pictorial of this small southern Oregon town, is available at Rebel Heart Books, Art Presence and other select stores in Jacksonville or online at https://www.photographicart.com/ayearinjacksonville A great Christmas gift!
