**LONG POST**

When people hear the word documentary, they usually think about celebrities, historical figures, or people who have done something extraordinary.

I recently heard my current favorite singer-songwriter Noah Kahan talk about his new Netflix documentary and he said something I did NOT expect to hear.

The (incredible) documentary, Noah Kahan: Out of Body, explores how Noah balances his hometown/family life with his touring/celebrity life. Noah admitted on several podcasts afterward that he opened up on the documentary in ways he hasn’t before – about his family and other mental health issues he deals with.

After watching the documentary with his family, he talked about how powerful it was to see their relationship from an outside perspective.

“I wish everyone’s family could have a documentary made about them so they can get a chance to see what their love looks like,” he said. “It makes you appreciate it more when you see how how potent it is. In fact, the first like few weeks after my family watched it, we'd never been closer. Like, there was nothing that was off the table anymore.”

My jaw hit the floor! Noah Kahan is a very humble and grounded individual, but to hear someone of his popularity seeing something about him, then thinking of how great it’d be for others was awesome.

It was also great to hear my favorite artist advocate for something I’m working so hard to build, especially since it’s so niche. I know he likely doesn’t know that this service actually exists, because he pretty much wishes it as though it’s unobtainable, but it is obtainable!

When you’re living your everyday life, it’s easy to overlook the things that make your family special.

Another thing Noah mentioned was that the documentary changed how he saw himself and his family.

“It brought us all to a place of truth instead of perception.”

He was able to see things he didn’t fully appreciate while he was living through them.

That’s something powerful about documentary storytelling.

Sometimes we are so close to our own lives that we don’t recognize the beauty in them.

A family documentary gives you the chance to step back and see the love, relationships, and memories that are easy to miss.

Most people don’t think about recording their family history until someone is gone or until they realize they should have asked more questions.

The stories that seem like they will always be there are often the ones we wish we had saved.

A family legacy film is a way to preserve those stories while the people we love are still here to tell them.

Because someday, the things that feel like everyday life today may become the memories your family wishes they could return to.

First time promoting Florida Legacy Films at a farmers market. It was very fun talking with people because almost no one has ever heard of such a service. Went with 20 brochures and only had one left over after the 5 hour market. We’ll see if anyone reaches out 😄

Six incredible stories so far since starting FLF. I had an idea getting into this that I’d hear some great tales. I’m just so impressed and amazed at the stories ordinary people are sitting on that no one would know unless asked to talk about it.

So far this venture has been everything I wanted it to be. I can’t wait for more 😄
