To all my photo friends out there… Don’t be afraid of using a flash!

This sunset was stunning, but to keep the sky, the street lights, and the couple properly exposed, a touch of on-camera flash was the missing piece.

A little light goes a long way—especially when ambient and flash are working together.

You don’t need a stunning location… just a couple in love.

This was my first time photographing engagement photos in Jefferson City, Missouri, and it already feels like a place I’ll return to. A warm sunset, Christmas lights coming on downtown near the Capitol and Governor’s Mansion, and weather that invited us to slow down and wander made the evening feel easy and unforced. Getting to document a new city while getting to know this couple made it even more meaningful, especially knowing I’ll be back here this time next year to photograph their wedding in Jeff City.

I love photographing proud theater kids! Emma was no exception. She was so much fun to photograph in her element. She was not only easy in front of the camera but showed so much joy running around the lighting booth and backstage getting the scene set for the shoot. I just love when I get to witness something in their element that they enjoy so much!
