For any session involving a swing, clients are responsible for providing the swing, all necessary equipment, a qualified operator, and the location.
I require this for safety, insurance, and liability purposes. Heather Landry Photography does not provide, operate, or secure swings or related equipment. Swings involve moving equipment, installation, weight limits, and potential safety risks, so I want to make sure the equipment is being provided and operated by someone who knows it properly and is responsible for its use.
There can also be additional costs associated with swing setups, including the swing itself, equipment, delivery/setup, an operator, and/or a location fee. Those costs are separate from your photography session and are the client’s responsibility.
And please, if you find someone offering swing setups for an unusually cheap price, I highly recommend doing your homework before booking. Ask whether they are properly insured, whether they are legally permitted to operate at the location, who is responsible for the equipment, and whether they have the appropriate safety measures in place. Something that looks like a great deal isn’t always a great deal when safety, insurance, and liability are involved.
I would much rather have you ask questions and make sure everything is being done properly as well as turn down work… than risk someone getting hurt just to save a few dollars or make a few dollars.
This policy isn’t about making things difficult — it’s about protecting you, your child, your family, and my business while allowing me to focus on what I do best… creating beautiful images.
