The Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival is organized by the Wisconsin Sheep Breeders
Cooperative (WSBC), an association of shepherds and sheep enthusiasts which has roots stretching back to the late 1800s. In 1979, WSBC organized its first Wisconsin Sheep Industry Conference, an event at which sheep producers from around Wisconsin and the Midwest gathered to participate in a number of educational presentations and meetings. Eventually, the conference grew to be the largest of its kind in the country. In 2002, the conference format gave way to the current festival format. While education of shepherds and sheep enthusiasts remains paramount to this event, the festival also now caters to the interests of fiber enthusiasts, stock dog owners and lovers, tourists, youth and many others. Last year, approximately 5,500 people, 500 sheep, and 110 vendors attended the festival. And, each year, more than 70 volunteer members and friends of WSBC help make the festival possible. Whether you've faithfully attended, exhibited or volunteered at the festival, a heartfelt thank-you goes to all who've contributed to the success of the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival! 2022 Festival Dates: September 9-11th.
