I used to think there was nothing particularly photographic about a hospital room.
A mom who has just given birth and is exhausted.
A dad overwhelmed by the entire experience.
A newborn taking in the world for the very first time.
And sometimes a big sister who is completely unimpressed by all of it.
Boy, was I wrong.
A hospital room is filled with some of life's most powerful moments. It's where love grows, hope begins, and families become something new. It's where wonder lives in tiny fingers and toes, sleepy smiles, and quiet glances between people whose lives have just changed forever.
The lighting is often less than ideal.
The room may be crowded.
Nothing is perfectly posed.
But the joy provides the light.
The hope provides the story.
And the love makes it all worth capturing.
These are the moments that matter. The moments that will never happen again. The moments that tell the beginning of a family's next chapter.
