š Football Friday ā High School Style! š¶
Win or lose, thereās just something exciting about a high school football game.
Of course, the game is why most people are in the stands or along the sidelines. But look around, and you quickly realize that Friday night football is about so much more.
Friends are hanging out together. The concession stand is serving up food galore. Cheerleaders are getting the crowd fired up. The band is filling the night air with music. And for a few hours, students, families, friends, and neighbors come together to share a great high school tradition.
Iāve covered high school football for more than 40 years, and I still get an adrenaline rush photographing it. The band is playing, the cheerleaders are encouraging the crowd to MAKE SOME NOISE, the air is getting a little cooler as fall approaches, and the players are battling it out on the field.
Thereās a lot to photograph on a Friday night!
This post, though, belongs to the Cardinal Band. Donāt worryāthere will be plenty of other posts. šø
One thing Iāve always appreciated about Pine Grove Area High School is that, win or lose, the students give it their allāand Mr. Gibsonās Cardinal Band is no exception.
Thereās something pretty amazing about a marching band. Itās made up of individual musicians, each with their own instrument, personality, and part to play. But when they step onto that field together, those individuals become part of something much bigger.
One band. One sound. One shared goal.
And thatās part of what makes Friday nights under the lights so special.
Great job, Cardinal Band! šŗš„š·
Football Friday is backāand Iām looking forward to capturing more of the people, moments, and traditions that make high school football nights memorable.
