It’s never easy to say goodbye.

Today would have been this sweet soul’s birthday. On Thursday, Ashley passed away, and the ripple of her loss is being felt by so many.

Ashley and Cody had the kind of love people write stories about — yearning, devoted, the real-life fairytale kind. I remember their proposal so vividly… the waves, the sunset, the timing that felt like the universe itself was holding its breath. It was magic. Pure magic.

And their Viking wedding in Missouri? Still one of the most unforgettable celebrations I’ve ever had the honor of capturing. The way they ran around the bonfire, laughing and breathless, stopping mid-stride just to kiss… that kind of love doesn’t fade.

Ashley was light. She was fire. She was genuine and unapologetically badass in the most beautiful way. The kind of person who made space brighter just by standing in it.

Please hold Cody and their families in your hearts. Send them love. Send them strength. Send them healing.

For over a decade, I’ve had the honor of watching Sally & Ego grow together through the burlesque community—on stages, behind the scenes, and in the quiet in-between moments that make a partnership real. Their wedding felt less like a ceremony and more like a reunion… familiar faces from all over, chosen family circling close, celebrating a love that’s been witnessed and cherished for years.

Now they’re stepping into their next chapter—hand in hand, hearts full, and soon off to New Zealand to begin the adventure ahead.
