Being new mom has so many challenges, and the last thing on the list is worrying about getting a pretty picture. But, don't worry, you got me. I loved holding Aubree so much and taking her photos, and now Courtney gets to have those memories of her at her smallest forever. Just look at this sweet babe. I could die!

Baby Aubree is coming any day now, so this weekend was really going to be our last opportunity to get a set of maternity photos. And the weather said, "I dare you."

Honestly, I kind of loved shooting in the rain and I'm really happy that Courtney and Brian said, "Yeah, let's do it!"

I feel like images like this are just so special, and it was an adventure to trek the empty beach right after (maybe in the middle of) a storm. Can't wait to meet Aubree!!

This was my first ever wedding ceremony, and I couldn't have picked a better couple for it. Kristen really made me feel in charge and capable, and it was exactly what I needed to get myself into gear. She was so in control the whole day, and everything turned out beautifully.

I can't wait to get this gallery finished, so here's a little sneak peak for you, Kristen and Joey! Congratulations! I'm so happy for you guys

It can be kind hard to be a photographer sometimes. It can feel a little like "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride", you know?

I had so much fun doing this shoot, and when I took this picture, my only thought was "Oh, man, I love my husband." My friends just looked so intimate and sweet and in love, and my husband had tagged along with us on the shoot to be the dog handler. Which was the nicest thing ever to do. And in that moment, there was just all this goodness in the air, and I really wanted to get in the water with Adam and splash around. I wanted to be the couple on the other side of the camera!

I was this 🤏 close to handing Becca the camera and saying, "Okay, my turn!" They were just so in loooove and having such a good time. Adam said absolutely, we need to get some pictures, but I don't think he would've been jazzed about jumping into the waves to do it.

What do you guys think? Would you do it for the shot?

My dad used to take us all to the beach a lot when we were kids.

My favorite thing was when he'd pull his concrete tools from the truck, and use a ten gallon bucket and trowel to make big sea turtle sculptures with us. We'd collect shells form the shore line to decorate the carapace. Maybe we'd find some sea glass to take home.

Man, being my dad's kid rocked so hard.

Your kids are growing up fast. It's what they do.

Look back on some old pictures with them and show them what they looked like as babies, I loved loved loved doing that with my mom when I was little.

I remember once, I found all of my baby pictures and scanned them to put on Facebook and I literally cannot remember where those physical copies ever went. Never trust a 13 year old alone with your family heirlooms, guys. Thank goodness for the digital era, am I right?

You can plan and prep for two whole days to make sure your baby is in a good mood at your shoot, you can nap late and bring yogis, and sometimes that is *still* not enough.

Sometimes, little ones will just get overwhelmed by the feeling of the salt-spray and the sound of loud wind. Especially very little ones who have been in quarantine most of their life. And that's okay.

You can love on them, and comfort them, and soothe their tears, and at the end of it, you're gonna get an image of an actual memory. You'll look at it and remember the touches and the shushes and how she never wanted to leave your arms. You'll remember that day.

Don't worry about the tears, just be there and be in love.
