Last week, I had the honor of giving the toast at my cousin’s wedding, where I shared how she pretty much beat me up most of our childhood! But you’d never believe that now. She has grown into the kindest, most generous person I know. Over the years, she has helped so many people when they were at their lowest, offering a listening ear, a warm hug, or a place to stay. Her compassion knows no bounds, and she always goes out of her way to show care and support, especially to those in need. It was a true privilege to be part of their special day and witness her marrying her perfect partner, who is equally as kind and generous.

And just for the record, I joined the UFC gym — just so there would be no more childhood beatdowns for me! 😂💪

All kidding aside, I love you both so much! Congratulations Raynelle & Kalae!

I know it’s Father’s Day, but I need to say a few words about my mom because she has shaped my life in the most beautiful ways. Her wisdom and love have given me a perspective filled with gratitude. She always redirected me to focus on the things I did have rather than dwelling on what I didn’t, setting me up for a lifetime of thankfulness.

This brings me to my dad. Some of you might not know, but he’s actually my stepdad. When I was young and wondered why I didn’t have a relationship with my biological father, my mom was there, teaching me that God gave me an even greater gift. She reminded me that I have a dad who came into my life and chose to be my dad. He loved me and raised me as his own. Every time I think about her reminder, it brings tears to my eyes.

He chose me.

Thank you, Mom, for teaching me gratitude. And thank you, Dad, for choosing me and showing me what true love and fatherhood are all about.
