Save the date!

Friday, September 4 is Park Trades Art Hop, and I figured that was the perfect time to have an open house.

If you’ve been curious about the new studio, this is a great chance to wander the building while it’s at its most alive. There are artists, makers, music, and all kinds of creative people with their doors open. It’s one of the most fun nights to experience Park Trades.

I’ll have my door open too. Stop in, say hello, check out the studio, and see what I’ve been building over the last couple of months.

Sarah and Mark have graciously agreed to help keep me from hiding in a corner if it gets busy. 😄

🚧 Church Street Turning Restrictions Begin Monday, July 27

Starting Monday, July 27, vehicles will not be able to turn between Kalamazoo Avenue and Church Street while crews complete underground utility work as part of the Kalamazoo Avenue reconstruction project. These turning restrictions will be in place during two phases of work:

-Monday, July 27 – Wednesday, July 29
-Monday August 3 – Friday, August 7

Here's what to expect:

-Kalamazoo Avenue will remain open with one lane of traffic.
-Parking areas and businesses accessed from Church Street will remain accessible.
-Pedestrians will continue to be able to cross Kalamazoo Avenue at Church Street.

Why two separate closures? Multiple underground utilities, including a new water main and electrical infrastructure, are being installed beneath the intersection. Because they're located at different depths and require different construction methods, the work has to be completed in stages. Completing all of these upgrades now means the newly rebuilt roadway won't have to be dug up again later.

Temporary Traffic Pattern Begins Monday, July 27 🚧

Construction at North Church Street and Kalamazoo Avenue will temporarily change vehicle access to the County's surface parking lot across from the Administration Building through approximately Friday, August 7.

County offices and parking lots remain open. If you're visiting the Administration Building or Judge Charles A. Pratt Justice Center and plan to use the surface parking lot, please access North Church Street from Ransom Street rather than from Kalamazoo Avenue.

Pedestrian access across Kalamazoo Avenue at North Church Street will remain open throughout construction.

Please refer to the map for alternate vehicle access and allow a few extra minutes for travel.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – July 23, 2026 – North Church Street, between West Kalamazoo Avenue and Willard Street, will be closed from Monday, July 27, 2026, through Thursday, July 30, 2026, to support the ongoing two-way conversion of Kalamazoo Avenue and related infrastructure improvements.

Motorists should expect traffic impacts and are encouraged to follow the posted detour routes. If pedestrian access is affected, a local pedestrian detour will be provided.
