Tips for involving your dogs on your wedding day:
1. Always have a dedicated person to care for your dogs. You can always ask a friend or family member, but keep in mind that whoever is looking after them will not be able to be fully engaged in the festivities because they have a job to do. I recommend hiring someone who can transport them safely to and from the wedding and focus on keeping them calm and happy.
2. There are lots of ways to include your dogs on your wedding day. Two of the most common ways are having them walk their owners down the aisle, and having them in portraits.
3. Prioritize your dog’s health. If your dogs are reactive or anxious around a lot of people, only have them come for pictures when it’s just you and your partner. Let your photographer know their triggers, and make sure that they are comfortable photographing animals. on it.
4. Inviting your dogs to be part of your wedding it’s already special, but if you want to take it to the next level, I have seen some cool ways to help them look extra fancy. Get a cute leash that matches your wedding colors (and keep them on it to keep everyone safe). Have your florist make a flower color. Get a cute doggy outfit. I love those because if you need to put them in a thunder shirt to keep them calm, the outfit covers it.
If it’s simply not possible to have your dogs involved on your wedding day physically, that doesn’t mean that they can’t be represented! I’ve seen cocktails named after pets, pet sculptures as cake toppers, and illustrations of pets on paper goods.
Did I miss anything? Did you already or are you planning to do any of these things?
