A RESPONSE UNDER THE LIGHTS
Game two asked Kalamazoo Central for an answer.
A week after a 27–20 loss to Jenison, the Maroon Giants returned home and controlled Detroit Renaissance, 54–12, for their first win of the season. The night moved from a quiet field at dusk to contested catches, collisions at the goal line, and a sideline settling into the certainty of a game that had turned.
But the clearest image came after the clock had done its work.
Dewey Young—Kalamazoo Central’s No. 75 and a Colorado commit—was approached by a young fan who told him he wanted to be like him. On a night defined by points, that exchange revealed another kind of impact: what younger players see when they look toward Friday night.
